Abolishing the night time bottle!!!

My son is twenty months old and still wakes in the night for a bottle of milk. He doesnt have one during the day, he will drink water or juice from a cup. At bedtime he will have a bottle of milk to settle down with. Which i think is fine, but he wakes in the middle of the night and will cry until he gets a bottle of milk.

I wish he would go through the night without it.

Can anyone give me any ideas

I successfully did the water trick. It took 1 week of normal feed times (with water) before he started to sleep right through. He was 10 mths old and I was told they don't need it from then on. Good luck. Dont give in think of the feed free nights your will have on the other side of that week.

Abolishing the night time bottle!!!
Hi
I am a evil mum that likes her sleep.....We put water in her middle of the night bottle and left it in her bed....that way if she wakes up thirsty there is a drink....I take a bottle of water (no baby teat on it thought lol ) to bed every night and so do my teenagers......better than getting out of the bed in the middle of the night if you are thirsty......
The first few nights will be rough but it only takes a week usually for them to get used to the fact they aint getting milk......
The paediatrician will tell you they don't need this int he middle of the night
Hope this helps
Luv Deb

Abolishing the night time bottle!!!
Hi..I recently abolished the night time bottles for both my boys.  And as a added benefit, my older one was successfully potty trained.  What happened was the nipples broke because they were biting them and I stuck to my guns with not buying anymore nipples.  It was rough the first couple of nights but after that, nothing.  The youngest fussed a bit but he eventually got used to not having it.  The only draw back with him though is he is a thumb sucker and that is another mountain i have to climb.  But if you want to have the bottle totally gone you will just have to take it away.  My heart goes out to you because it's really not easy.

I leave a 2nd bottle in my daughters cot near her arm where she'll find it when she needs it, just as I am going to bed.  Works every time.

I forgot to mention I make it a half strength formula.  she's not a water fan unless its in a pump water bottle which is too messy.  We're in the begining of moving & I can't be bothered fighting with her right now. lol
