sleeping and eating

At what age will my 3 month old be able to sleep all night 7-7 and only get up once to eat. She gets up twice now, and I know she is hungry. Any suggestions on getting her to drop that second feeding? It is so hard to get her to go back to sleep the second time she gets up to eat.

Not sure if yours is too little for this at the moment, but when Aaliyah was 6 months old she started to wake up during the night again (after a couple of months of sleeping from 9/10pm to 6/7am). My mother-in-law gave me some great advice, and that was to offer her water every time she woke up during the night when she wasn't supposed to. On the first night, I did this and she didn't like it too much, but I persisted with it as long as I could before offering her formula. The second night it happened again, but this time she took more water and only a little formula. Now she's sleeping through the night again - I just needed to break the habit of her waking for a feed when she didn't need one. According to my mother-in-law it only takes about two nights of offering her water for her to be sleeping through because "they won't wake up for water". I still do this when she still wakes up on occasion so I don't allow even a slight habit to form.

In responce to so many good advice tips, baby is fed formula. She is on a 3 hour schedule, eats at 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 and then I do a "dream feed" at 10:30 pm and she will usually last until 3 or 4 am. So at what age should I move her up to 4 hour feeds and add some watery cereal?

shes till a little bubba and gets hungry . if i remember it might be a little too soon to change this .. but with saying all of that when ours got older what we did is introdue water into the feeding time so when he woke up at night when he was older instead of getting the extra bottle of milk he got water , he loves water but he just took a few sips cause he was thirsty and went on back to sleep , it did take him a little getting used to but hes fine with it now ,,

im no doc no expert do you see your local baby clinic ?/

not everything they say to me in the past mightnt be for me but they got great tips on this also and they check your babys growth height weight length  moter skills etc,,, i found them handy to even find great peditricians etc,,,

I was very careful not to stimutate him when it was  his feeding as they think its play time again ,, but i also cheated and got him a dummy lol

My kids were 10 weeks, 8 weeks, and 6 weeks when they were sleepign all night.  My youngest will be 4 months tomorrow and he sleeps 8 PM until about 8 or 9 AM.  We started from day 1 with a routine.  We would put him on a 3 hour schedule...he would eat sleep and be awake during the 3 hours.  We got him eating at about 7am, 10, 1, 4, 7, and 10pm.   After awhile, he would eat 7am, 11, 3, 7pm.--eating more ounces.  Now he eats 6 ounces at 9am, 12, 3, 6, and at 8pm he eats a bottle of cereal...and sleeps about 12 hours!  LOVE IT!.  The big thing is to get the baby on a schedule.  You let her know when it is time to eat.

Be careful with tight schedules like these. They aren't flexible for growth spurts and when those happen the wheels will fall off. Bub will stop sleeping through and you'll be very confused as to why.

Bubs still need feeds through the night until they're six months old and go on to solids (i.e. the ones she's waking for) Some people try something called dream feeding. Bub is picked up at 10pm and fed, not woken. Can encourage them to sleep through and only wake you for one feed at 3, 4, or as late as 5am. It works for some people but not others. It's really good to breastfeed through the night - it helps to maintain milk supply. So try to think positively about it. However you might want to consider how to void bub associating sleep with being fed. I found it worked to increase the time between the last feed and bedtime. Give bub some tummy time and a story, or a lullaby and put to bed using self settling techniques. There are some great minti articles on this. Good luck, but a warning. Don't expect too much too soon. From my experience I can say it's worth the wait. Hope this helps

Hayley

ITs quite possible that your little bub is starting off with her first growth spurt...infact i think she's doing quite well to be getting up only twice! You are lucky! Alot of parents have to get up at least 5 times a night! Is your baby breast fed or bottle fed? IF she is breast fed it is quilte possible that she may not be satistfied, as sometimes the quality of the breast milk in some women is not as good as that in others....so may be good to change to bottle feeding....or if she is formula fed, you could perhaps try giving her one small tiny feed on solids a day! It is what i did with my daughter at 8 weeks old, because she was a hungry baby, she loved it, and she had no tongue poke reflex! Do you give your daughter cool boiled water to drink? she could be thirsty not hungry! I never gave my daughter water as i thought that she was getting enough from her formula, but then one day she wouldn't stop crying and my granparent in law at the time asked me if i had given my baby water, when i said no he ripped in to me, got my baby some cool boiled water and then she was fine! HE later explained to me why he ripped in to me!
I have probably not helped you much, but i hope i have, good luck with finding a solution!

Three months is still very little to be sleeping through if you ask me. Not sure if you are breastfeeing or doing formula but are you giving the maximum  you can at each feed? To try and encourage the baby to go back down after the second feed put them back in the cot and maybe try some music, rather than nursing so they start to know this is the routine.
The other thing is you could just accept it as it is only a stage and the sleeping patterns will change again in a month or so. if you can catch up on your sleep when your baby sleeps during the day that's great. try not to plan too much.
