Hi there, I'm just wondering if someone can help me. My 6mo has only had 125ml of formula since 7pm last night. She's eating her food fine but will not take any milk whatsoever. She is cutting her top teeth at the moment. She's not sick at all and is quite content without the milk at the moment so should i just leave her be or try to make her have more. Thanks.
Hi, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their advice. Bella has started back on the formula now and is fine. I'm wondering but can I give her solids for breakfast and leave her first morning bottle til about 9:30am? She never seems to want one before then.
If she's not taking milk then try water or something cos keeping your childs fluids up is more important then her eating. You don't want her to become dehydrated. Hope this helps.
have u tryed to offer her any other fluids babies do go through a stage where they dnt want to drink there milk my little one has gone of her milk couse she is teething so that more then likely why she doesnt want her milk but i would try to get her to drink a bit off water and see how is goes all the best
Althought it's been a while since my boy was 6 mths, I do have a good memory of it. Most children will go off their milk at different times, commonly when teething. If your bub is content I honestly think you have answered your own question. I'd probably not leave it too long without fluids though (water & diluted juice if milk not on the menu). As for teething pain cures, I have a great one which my little neice just loved. She had this teething ring which had like a small fishnet sack attached to it (avail from stores). Fill it with frozen fruit (watermelon, mango, strawberries - anything) it numbs the area and they love the taste - it's worth holding in the mouth unlike the plastic ones.
most go off their milk and food one day he didnt want a thing the next day he wanted everything and so on up and down ,, just offer her some water so she dosent dehydrate . cold teething rings from the fridge also help sooth her mouth , i also gave mine a few hard teething rusks to help him cutt the teeth through ( you need to be watching her if you give her one so she dosent shove the whole thing down her throat )
I would let her be, unless it goes on for a long period of time or if she isnt acting right. Babys go through alot of weird things when they are cutting teeth. Sometimes they dont want to eat at all. Give her some time and see what happens.
Each time my daughter cuts a tooth (she has 6 and another coming through) she goes off her food. Think about it, would you feel like eating/drinking when you're in so much pain?? I wouldn't worry about it too much, try and keep up her fluids the best you can, maybe offer more throughout the day, or even not heat it as much as cooler foods/drinks seemed to take with my bub. I'm sure it'll just be a phase cause she's in pain.
the bottle could be hurting her gums where she is teething,
when lillian started teething and didnt take the bottle i put a little bongela on her gums and then waited till it kicked in and gave her the bottle, it seemed to work.
Don't force her to drink it, but continue to offer it to her. Even if she only drinks 50 mls, it's better than nothing. Also try to offer her other forms of dairy like custard and yoghurts, so she is at least getting some form of calcium. Make sure you continue to offer her other fluids like water or diluted juice though, so she doesn't dehydrate. If after a few days she is still not drinking any milk what so ever, I would take her to a doctor or health clinic just to get checked over for you own piece of mind. I know a lot of babies/children who went off dairy when teething. If she becomes lethargic, has a temperature or starts vomiting or diarohhea, take her to a doctor immediately.
