teething blues

OK...I do believe this is all about teething, but just wanted to make sure others went through this too.  Lately, my daughter isn't eating as much, her diapers are very soft (she used to have constipation a lot!), and lately at night she cries so hard when I lay her down that she gags herself.
She used to eat a ton and I used to be able to lay her down and she would chatter herself to sleep.  Her gums are swollen and they feel bumpy.  During the day I give her ice cubes in her mesh feeder and right before bedtime I give her a dose of Motrin (ibuprofen).
Is there anything else I can do??

teething blues

Hey,

I am currently going through the same thing with my lil one and we think it could be teething as well.

My son was so sick and sore he didnt eat or drink for 5 days and was on the brink of being put in hospital but i managed to make it easier by doing the following.

Nurofen - Pain and Fever Relief every four hours if needed or if his temp went up

I also bought some Brauer - Teething Relief It is all natural medicine it contains no asprin or paracetamol so he can have it with nurofen and it has calming herbs such as Belladonna (my new best friend)

Even though my son is almost 7 months i got those fruit sticks which are for 1 -3 yr olds and popped em in the freezer he loved it but be warned extremely messy and they stain so make sure they in old clothes as i found out the hard way.

I also use bonjella let your baby chew on a dry face washer before applying so it drys their gums and then apply i usually do this only on the really sore days, usually before food or bottle just to help him out a bit.

I hope this helps as i went through screaming non stop, no sleep and a very sick little boy.

Shanete

For my kids i swear by sedagel. I know it works because i used it when i had my wisdom teeth coming through. Works in about a minute. I also read someone used bonjea, now dont' get me wrong here but i was told by a chemist  that it is not recommended for babies under 1 year. I'm not sure why but there it is. A lot of people use it and don't have any problems with it. I must find out about this in more detail. The other thing is cold foods. Iesha loved my frozen yohgurt cubes. Buy one of those large tubes of yohgurt, much cheaper and put in your ice cube tray. Obviously this has to be age appropriate due to the yohgurt. Good luck.

Baby oragel (spelling?) worked great for us. It kind of numbs the pain.

I found teething to be one of the hardest aspects of being a mum. It can be very hard to detect when they are teething or have a case of the sniffles lol

There isnt much you can do really apart from the basics. Something to chew on, pain relief and lots of love and hugs.

I found with my son, using teething gels helped a great deal during the day. They are available in chemists in the UK, but am unsure if you can get them in other parts of the world.

I hope her teeth come through soon.

Ibuprofen helps pain but not teething (much). it is the codine in panadol or neurofen (cant remember which one). Babies go off food when unwell and teething. no2's are softer as when teething they drool more and produce more suliva this is carried through the body. My son loves to suck on ice too.

there are also teething rings  that have little bumps on it also ,, you place them in the fridge to keep it cool at night when she wants to rub her teeth onto something she might just grab them with a little help at first to rub it onto her gums ,,, also there are teething gells arround im not sure the ones you have over there if they are the same ,, Curash oral relieving gell and also Bonjella you rub a little on their gums and it numbs them for awhile ..

mine also was put off food he was also very irritated with anything he went from a happy chappie to a grumble bum while he started to teeth ,, i used the gel and also the teething rings for him ,, that gave him lots of releif not to mention it giving me releif also lol

As strange as this sounds... I let my son suck on a gerkin.... You just have to watch she does not chew on it.. He used to suck them until there was no juice left.. When the teeth started to come in he used to eat them.. But I kept an eye on him to make sure he would not choke...

And believe it or not I did not have any sleepless nights with him over his teeth and he stopped crying the minute I gave him a gerkin.. I only had to give him one or two and he was fine...

Not saying it will work for everyone.. The first time I got this bit of advice I said yeah right... But I tried it anyway and it worked like a charm...   Sweet gerkins not sour.. LOL he just screwed his face up at those... :)
