mold in a rubber ducky?

I never thought I'd be asking a quesiton like this... but... does anyone know how to get mold or mildew out of a rubber ducky? it's one of those ones that's just got the one hole in the bottom of it. Of course, it's my daughters favorite, and I've tried to replace it with a different ducky, but she doesn't seem to want a different one. I also can't find one that is exactally the same. Any suggestions will help because bath time just isn't the same with out the ducky.

mold in a rubber ducky?
I get my rubber duckies from the dollar store... It is soooo hard to get the gunk out... I used to suck the water into the duck and then squeeze it out and all the gunk would come out but I'd still miss bits, and it takes for ever....

So I would just buy a bag of rubber duckies from the dollar store so I always had them on hand..

good luck

Have a look here, these are really good cleaners and non-toxic which would be great to use for babies toys...

Cheers

Bleech gets rid of mould in toys, just make sure you rinse it well.

rule
I don't know how old your daughter is but we have a rule in our house. No toys in the water that have a hole in it.  It's the rule. My girls ask me if they can take something in, I tell them to see if there's a hole, if there is, NO, it doesn't go in. They have accepted it because, I tell them that I will have to toss it later.  I'm glad you tossed your duck.

I agree, time to throw it out.

I've been buying most of our bath toys at the dollar store.  That way I'm not too bothered if they get broken or moldy.  If you can find duckies at a dollar store near you, buy a few, so you can replace them if something happens.

Also, they will last longer if you make sure to rinse and empty out the toys when you're finished using them.

mold in a rubber ducky?
Hi
Bite the bullet i am afraid and get rid of the duck.......it is the safest thing.

We have learnt with having a baby with CF not to have any toy that cannot be washed out and cleaned properly and dried.

The mould can make your child sick.
Aspergillus can be found in mould from where water is trapped and become stagnant.

I second the "ditch-the-duck" motion.

There's just no way to make sure that you get it completely clean, and it's not healthy to be played with anymore. Sorry. :( Many, many bath toys have gone to bath toy heaven around here for the very same reason - seems no matter how careful you are about squeezing them out after bath time at some point they're just going to mold in there.

Have you tried using a cleaning agent something like CLR and squeezing the ducky sucking in the liquid, shacking it and squeezing it back out. This might work. I haven't had this problem yet.
