bags under 9 month old eyes

I am new here this is my first time to ask a question.. So please bear with me if i do something wrong.. I noticed lately that my soon to be 9 month old daughter has bags under her eyes.. She does take about an hour nap in the morning and anywhere from 1-1 1/2 hours in the afternoon. She is usually sleeping by 8pm and does not wake at all until around 9am. I feel it is not lack of sleep that is causing this. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they found out.. Thanks.

She sounds to me like she is getting plenty of sleep. Bags under her could mean a number of things i.e. lack of iron, Allergy to something e.g. cat, plant, cleaning product, soap etc. Watch her closely to see exactly when to bags appear. You may notice whats causing her problem. Or if your still concerned take her to doctor. Good luck with this.

Hi there,

What you are describing sounds more like a type of sleep problem more than a lack of sleep.

When a child/baby/adult sleeps they enter different stages of sleep. Everybody does this and if this is not happening then your quality of sleep is poor hence the bags under the eyes.

This is something i feel you should be very concerned about and speak to your GP about it. I would ask for a referral to see a paediatrician as son as possible and see if you can get your little in for a sleep study test.

What you are describing to me sounds a lot like a type of Sleep Apnea and this can be fixed easily once they figure out exactly what is happening.

My eldest daughter (now 15) was the same and after she had the sleep study test it was just a matter of changing a few habit and she was fine. Sleep well and her bags went away - that was until she turned into a teenager and begun being naughty . . lol

Cheers

if you are really concerned about your little one ask your family doc for a referral to an allergy clinic where they can start him on an elimination diet... These diets can be quite hard on the parents (as my daughter will no doubt confess) but are a real blessing in the long run... I have allergy eyes & suffer from several different allergies & food intolerances.. My grandchildren have intolerances to milk / soy / protein products plus food colouring & flavouring, so we try to keep them on as natural a diet as possible. Sometimes Allergy Eyes can be a sign that the kidneys are overworking...

Hi there matey,
Okay to start with my eldest had bags under his eyes well what looked like bags anyway but they were more like dark rings or darkness under his eyes and on his eyelids if you know what I mean.....I took him to an old wise doctor and he told me that he was having a reaction to something I was feeding him.....Food allergies can cause this and still do with me........Maybe that is something for you to check into...Good luck
Cheers

It is Msg in our home........allergies can be from anything but so you may have to do a trial and error thing where you exclude something from her diet and see how you go....There is a fair bit of advice about food allergies under the advice section so maybe do a search and have a read.....but I would avoid msg anyway if that is in anything she eats.....it is 621 and is a flavour enhancer......
