I think Jaidans eczema may be made worse by milk. So to test the theory I stopped him drinking it all together for the last 3 days and his rash is almost gone! So is this just a coincidence or can milk make that much of a difference? If so what do I give him instead? He wont drink soy milk as I tried that once...
My son is only 4 and a half months old but I am weaning him from BM in bottles to formula as I just can't pump full time any more. I first used s-26 Gold Alpha Pro but every single bottle he had of it made his eczema flare up BADLY. I changed to Karicare Goat Formula and he is a changed baby. It's almost disappeared. Perhaps you could use Goat Milk or try the 6month+ Karicare Goat?
I hope it gets better for you guys soon!
I dont know if this would help but this is how I got used to drink soy milk. I decided to fast this year for easter (starting today till easter) and I cant eat any animal products, meat, milk, eggs, fish, butter. nyway. I decided that it would be good idea to drink soy milk, but my god I cant stand it. so what I did was mix it 90% milk - 10% soy for few days, than a bit less milk more soy for few days, and so on untill I had only soy milk in the glass it is still not great but I could tolerate it better. you can also add nesquick or milo a bit the first few times.
Have you tried Rice Milk? It costs about the same as soy milk, can be bought from the UHT milk aisle of any supermarket, or you can go the organic rice milk from the health food section. It has a much more pleasant taste than the soy milk and smells a lot nicer too. If you have it on cereal it tastes better than cow's milk! I have to add flavouring to it to drink it in a glass though. It has a sweeter taste than cow's milk too. I can't have it in coffee as I don't have sugar or sweetner in coffee so it makes it too sweet, but my daughter loves it in Milo. Just another option.
friends boy is the same with eczema hes is allergic to cows milk protein and soy so cant have either she has him on a formula cant remember the name but it is prescription only. so if u find it hard to find a sub maybe ask ur gp about this formula.
My oldest son has contact allergies. This means when he drinks milk (which he doesn't do now) and spills it on his chin or chest a rash comes up straight away. So we stopped milk altogether. We gave him soy instead. We have just found it he has high sensitivies to milk and soy.
So maybe you can give him other calcium rich foods to make up for lack of milk? My big boy only has a little milk on cereal as well as yogurt and cheese as well as icecream!
my guess is to try any alternative to full cream milk,
maybe see how he goes with skim? UHT, goats, rice, and i know he doesn't like soy but yeah as others have said, try mixing it, milo and nesquik should do the job!
I would have no idea, but judging by what everyone else has said then i would have to agree with what they have said.
could you perhaps try putting a little milo in your little mans soy milk? Every kid i know loves milo, and it has been proven to be good for you.....SO EVERYONE EAT THAT MILO!!! LOL
Hi my little toddler Ben had quite bad eczema from birth until about 20 months. I used to give him goats milk, it is quite expensive but full of calcium and he used to drink it fine. He appears to have grown out of it now so good luck. x
hi guys my little niece suffers from eczema and my sister has changed her over to soya milk and less of it plus she baths her in something called pinetarsel from the chemist and it has worked wonders for her skin
good luck (not to sure how to spell pine tarsel but all chemists sell it)
hope it helps
I have a son who deals with eczema, one with asthma-allergies, and three have an intolerance/allergy to cow's milk. it is my understandinig that eczema basically is an allergic reaction (?), so it makes sense the cow's milk could be a culprit. We have found life much easier as a soy milk family. There's also rice milk as an alternative, but I've never tried it.
Hey MAD MAD MAD MEL how the how are u ........Milk can be cause eczema and be bad for asthmatics, there is a vanilla soy milk put out by sanitarium that is so nice in flavour u can even put it on cereal I havent met a child yet that doesnt like it.U can get rice milk but it is vile tasting.Hope this helps hugs Merle
I was told to not give my children cows milk because of asthma related problems and it can also affect eczema so I think there is something in this theory
But I don't know about an alternative as mine had to go on Soya Milk but were younger
So sorry not much help
xx
