sleeping too long?

Hi all, well i am just curious as to what everyone thinks. I am a little concerned about my daughters daily nap for today.....she went to bed at 9:30 this morning because she was upset grizzly and requested pillows and bed....it is now 12:55 and she is not awake! I have been constantly checking on her and she is breathing fine. Should i wake her up or let her sleep? I must add that she had a bit of a little fall a hurt her lip....but was tired before this anyhow.....

Thanks guys.

My little boy was 3 at Christmas and has only just dropped his daily sleep in the last few weeks.  He will have a daily sleep of 2 -4 hrs and will still go to bed at about 7.30 p.m. and sleep through.  He always been a good sleeper and I have always been an advocate of 'never wake a sleeping child'.  There is nothing wrong with a child having a long sleep - they obviously need it.  I hope she was alright after her fall.  This may well have contributed to her sleep and I often find that my little boy is really grotty and will often become clumsy when tired.  As soon as he hurts himself or things aren't going his way he will often ask for his milk and blanket.  Don't panic - they're still only babies.  We expect them to grow up too quickly these days - there's  nothing like a good sleep in the middle of the day!

Thank you to everyone for your response. Emily woke up at approx 1:20 pm with a smile on her face.
Her fall wasn't too bad. i was there when she fell, and before putting her to bed i checked her for bumps and mushy haemetomas (sp?) as she has had a previous head injury.
Anyway, she is ok, i think just a little tired from yesterday which is what caused the fall!

how badly did she falll, if it was only a little one and you aren't to worried then i wouldn't  worry to much, she may be having a growth spert i know sienna sleeps alot when she is having a growth spert. if she is breathing fine and you aren't worried then i wouldn't worry she may just be in need of a nice big rest Brittxx

Were you there when she had her fall?  If you were, did she hit her head at all?  If you weren't there, did you check for bumps on her head to see if she hit her head?  I ask because she may have a concussion in which case it is extremely dangerous for her to be sleeping.  That's a worst case scenario of course.  Otherwise, she may just be tired.  Keep a watch on her and make sure everythjing is okay but I'd definately take her to casualty if she had any kind of fall involving her hitting her head.

My daughter sometimes has long sleeps like that out of the blue as well.  I put it down to her needing to catch up on sleep after having a busy couple of days/week like we all do.  I'd keep an eye on her though if she had a fall, especially if she has never had a long sleep like this before.  Hope she is OK and only in need of a good sleep.  She should wake up in a happy mood at least.
