sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex!!!!!

well it was MY last resort, i was quite turned off sex but i was 1 week overdue and really willing to do it just to have a natural labour, we did it twice (sorry for the info) and i was in labour 4 hours later! hows that for timing!
well aparantly when there is enough semen there to soak a cervix, it thins the cervix, causing labour.

hope it helps

also Raspery leaf tea is brilliant. my sister in law as over due with all 3 bubs. she'd take this and within 24-48hrs her labour began. you can by it from your supermarket in the tea/coffee isle!

Labour-Bring it on!!!

Prostaglandins in semen are suppose to help to ripen the cervix and therefore bring on labour.  So the answer there would be to have sex and if possible, an orgasm for you....contractions of the uterus help as well.

Even though the hospital won't induce, what does your OB say?  Is she/he willing to give advice or help bring it along?

Good luck!

Hot curry, we had the curries both times and it seemed to help. They have to be hot and spicy but they did work for us.

I went overdue on all four of my children, my daughter the  2nd was actually 3 weeks over!!
I tried everything and I mean everything
Once I even spent a whole day on my hands and knees scrubbing with a scrubbing brush every carpet in my home!
I did the castor Oil the most revolting thing in the world and it didn't work!
i did bumpy rides down a track in a 4 wheel drive car
I even tried jumping up and down on my bed.
I do know how you feel, I used to keep going to the doctor and saying about my back pain, they used to say lets see what happens to the blood pressure, the blood pressure would go up then they would say we will induce you if your get swollen hands and feet, when the swollen hands and feet arrived they would say, lets wait and see if you get protein in your water, after that it was oh yes so you have, lets give it another week
In the end the only child I was induced for was my 3rd when we insisted that they did something unless they were prepared to give us a 100% guarantee that nothing was going wrong.
All you can do is rest, support your back and be patient. I'm sorry hon

I know what you're going through, I was 39 weeks when my water broke. I wanted her out soo quick lol. But what I did was walked around alot. The doctor rippened(sp) my cervix because I was already dilated 2cm at the time of my weekly appointment and I had asked her what I could do to induce labor. She did say sex, but I knew that was out of the question lol.. My husband did not want to do that LOL so then the next best thing was walking. I walked around the mall like 3 times and it's huge. Later that night, my water broke and it was time to head to the hospital.

If you get heart burn alot, then I don't think spicy food would be the best solution. I never ate spicy food through-out my whole pregnancy because I was always afriad I would go into labor early lol..

I hope your baby comes out soon. Good luck with your delivery

sex  theres something in the male sperm that helps to bring it on at this stage ,, warm baths walking up stairs... but with all that i did the doc also did a swipe ( that is the  doctor at the hospital broke my membrains with his hand when i went in to see them ..

you bleed alot and get cramps but it also helped bring it on ,, i was 42 and a half weeks tied lol ..but if you do this dont have warm baths afterwoods or sex lol

warm baths do help bring it on though and the other ideas the hospital told me to do also

I went 8 days overdue, and I was ready for my son to come out at 37 weeks so I definately feel your pain.  My midwives told me to have lots of sex as this sometimes helps.  Aparantly you can use Castor Oil i think but my midwives told me that this was quite a painful way to enduce labour.  The other thing they said was spicy food.  I still went over due and we had lots of sex and spicy foods, but I do know that these things have worked for some people.  Good Luck

I tried the castor oil thing. Or at least I tried to do the castor oil thing. It's pretty much impossible to take the amount that you are supposed to take. And it gives you cramps and the trots. you don't wanna be in labour with the runs i'm sure!

I'm convinced what finally started my labour was the internal exams. I was having them a couple times a week cuz I had low amniotic fluid and they had to do a bunch of scans. the last one i had was pretty intense, and by the time i was in the parking lot waiting for my friend to come pick me up i had started having contractions.
