Personally, i'd advise taking your son to the doctor, especially if his temp gets any higher! HE could have something as simple as Otitis Media (middle ear infection), which if he is not too sick, panadol and 24 hours will clear it!
Hope you find out what is wrong with your son soon.KEep us posted!

temperatures don't ususally happen without a reason. It may be something that you can't see. If it continues I would take him to the doctor so they can do a proper check. Try and take note if he is in any pain e.g. going to the toilet or sore stomach. It is very hard to pin point a reason if you can't see it. Good luck with this, hope he gets better real soon.

my 2 year olds been having that since he was 8 months old , it always lasts from 3 to 4 days , he has panadole then the next few hours nurofen .. sometimes we cant see whats wrong with them ,, he could have an ear infection take him to the doc to have it checked out ,, our little ones pick up bugs more than our older children and they are weaker , its normal for them to get a few fevers as it helps them to get stronger as they grow ,not  all children are the same ,, just keep an eye on his temp every few hours , the panadole helped his fever why he got the fever again is because the panadole marks the problem and brings the fever down , when the panadole wears off the fever goes right up again ,,

I would take him to the doc to see why he got the fevers ,,

as the doctors tell me its not the fever its why hes getting them

Hi
I think it is something going round....our daughter spikes temps every now and then too.....we give her panadol and it comes down...39.9 highest so far.....
She goes to the paediatrician and her doctor on a regular basis for her fortnightly check ups with her CF and he said there is a lot of the high temps for no real reason they can see....said possible to do with teething or a 24 - 48 hour bug......he said if she shows other symptoms then let him know......
It happens every few weeks...he said it may be them just fighting of something they have caught and building their immune system....
Hope this may help
Luv Deb

Hi,

My daughter (2 and a half) had exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago it lasted about 3 days every few hours her temp would go sky high then i would give her some panadol and it would bring it back down but again it would go up. She developped no other symptoms and didnt really seem unwell with it but like you i was worried, i took her to the doc as at one point it went up to 40 but he just sent us home with some other medicine which did seem to help her temp down.

The medicine was nothing other than a paracetomol but in liquid form but if you little one gets anything else symptoms wise take him to the doc as you can never be too careful.

I used to have a doctor once that said he would rather see my kids every day than not see them one day because i thought it was a waste of his time and there be something wrong so your best bet is to take him if you are concerned about him still.

Hope this helps :) sarah.x.

Hi Pamadams, the other thing you could do to bring his temp down is to put him in a cool / luke warm bath. Still keep a close eye on him but to cool him off let him play in the bath for a few minutes.  Good luck.

Best Wishes Blond.

Could he be getting his 2 year old molars? Sometimes at the onset of a flew or gastro bug they will get a temp.I would just keep an eye on him for any out of the ordinary, like rashes etc. Most bugs live for 24-48 hrs.If his temp gets higher or doesn't respond take him straight to the DR hope he gets better regards Merle
