VBAC

Hey, i just want to know if anyone out there has experienced a vbac (vaginal birth after caeser) as my hubby and i are concerned, this baby is our fourth baby and our last and i do want to give birth naturally.

my first baby i went 9 days over my edd and i had a 27 hour labour with her as i wasn't dilating properly and they broke my waters to get things moving along then she became distressed and she swallowed meconium and had to be in special care nursery for a week and my second i had to be induced as she was 10 days over and she was basically a text book labour 5 hrs and 15 mins and the third was breech and they gave me a choice on whether or not i wanted to have her breech or do a procedure where they turn her on the outside of my belly or have a caeser so i chose the caeser and now that i pregnant again i really want to have peanut natually but not if it is going to harm him/her so any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch..

Brand new VBAC book.

Brand new VBAC book.

http://www.lulu.com/content/840872

This brand new VBAC book is a small collection of Vaginal Birth After  Caesarean (VBAC) stories from women compiled together as an inspirational resource for women who are searching for the reassurance that their bodies really can birth naturally.

Reading stories from other women who have already had a VBAC can only serve to empower the reader and will help bring about the confidence to trust our inner wisdom and believe in our body's own abilities.

The support and dedication these women have experienced during their own VBAC is truly inspiring and very empowering. Their belief in themselves and anyone else who is contemplating a VBAC is absolutely amazing and is most certainly one of the keys to unlocking the beautiful Birthing Goddess from within.

VBAC

I am an antenatal teacher and statistically the odds in favour of having a VBAC are very good.  There is a small risk of uterine , something like 0.5% of VBAC's

It is better for you and the baby to try for a VBAC if there are no medical indications for a Caesarean section.  I was with a woman giving birth last summer and that was a sucessful VBAC.

have a look at www.homebirth.org.uk/vbac

i have never had this happen to me as i have only had one and she was very similar to your first labour, however i have heard of women who have had c-sections and then had a vaginal birth after and everything was fine. i would just make sure you get checked over thouroughly by your doctor so they can give you the all clear and i wouldn't worry to much you will be in good hands when it comes time to give birth. good luck i hope it works out for you and congrats on your pregnancy!! Hi there!  yes, I have and I know there are a couple of other Minti mums who have too.  I have written some advice on it here and here.  I would also look at Birthrites, a website especially for women who have had caesarians.  They offer great support and advice.

Yes, there are risks - the main being uterine rupture.  You need to look at the risks and decide for yourself.  For me the percentages seemed too small to warrant considering further unnecessary surgery (which contrary to what some people say does involve risks for both you and the child).  As you had a caesar due to being breech I would guess your chances are pretty good and the fact that you have given birth naturally before would be a positive too.

However having had one caesar it increases your chance of having another (from the national average of 25% to about 30%) so I would factor in your plans how you would like to proceed if it became necessary to do one.   That said you have a 70% chance of not needing one - pretty good odds!

If there is anything else I can help with please contact me and I am happy to help!
