hi! Im just loking at something my daughter made ages ago that was really simple but effective - I like it so much it's still on display.

It's entitled "ants on a lolly stick".

You need glue, lolly sticks, paper or material cut into a sort of "splat shape" (like the ice lolly has melted on the floor) and spice seeds (sorry, cant remember what we used, sort of ant-sized, long & thin, but you could use grass seed) - it used to smell lovely.

Kids stick splat on to paper. Kids stick lolly stick so end is in middle of splat. Then get runny glue in dispenser with hole and help them swirl the sticky stuff into long lines, round and round. Then, and I suggest you put the paper on a tray first, get kids picking up handfulls of the seeds and dropping then onto the glued area. Pick up and shake off the excess seeds and dry it.

Try  making a catapillar out of egg cartons and pyklers ( spelling ) for the legs and feelers. They're easy to make. Hope this helps
