1st time mom is confused

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could tell me some ideas on what we can feed my 10 month old. So far she has had yogurt, popcorn twist, fruit, frozen yogurt or popsicle(when teething), mashed potatoes, veg's, chicken, roast. I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas wether it would be as a snack or an entire meal.. She has also had toast, cottage cheese. Gee I make it sound like she has had a ton of things but it does not feel that way at all.. She is still nursed in the morning feeding once she eats her pablum, then she gets whole milk with her lunch about 4 0z is all she wants, then 7 oz in mid afternoon of whole milk, with her supper she drinks about another 4 oz of whole milk, at bed time her pablum again mixed with whole milk and i nurse her at bed time. Is she drinking enough milk, should i cut down on the food part and give her more milk.. Is milk suppose to be the most important part of her food group right now.. I am so confused as you can tell.. So i really have 2 questions.. thanks in advance for your help!!

we just mushed everything we ate for logan... he had everything from well cooked steak in a stew to home made pizza... provided you test all the ingredients to see of they have alergies first you can give them anything. it's just about exciting their tastebuds at that stage anyway... pump her full of all kinds of well cooked vegies and fruit and you should be ok... just avoid nuts and tomatoes :)'s for you hope this helps

JUst wondering
Just wondering if the Whole milk is formula or just cows milk. Wasn't sure cause different countries have different names for things. If its just cows milk then perhaps it is best to know that it is not supposed to be a whole milk food for you child until after 1. You can put it on cereal and stuff but they really need the nutrients that cows milk does not have (either breastmilk or formula). Solids only account for about 25% of their nutritional requirements int he first year so they are not that important more a taste and texture thing.

Hi yes i know sometimes it is confusing as different countries do have different names for things.. Anyways the doctors here in Canada said the whole milk which is cows milk not formula is now safe to give her, they say between 8months to 1 year we can start the cows milk. So yes she is on the cows milk, as she is 10 months. I know not the full year thing but with the dr okaying it, it must be ok... thanks for your concern.

Here's an article I wrote on serving sizes for a twelve month old - your baby isn't there yet but this might be a good starting point.

As far as what you should be feeding her, variety is the key. I'd agree with the first response, no popcorn. Other than that, I think you've got a good mix going. I usually try to pick up at least one fruit and one vegetable my son hasn't tried every week. Other than that, he eats what my wife and I eat.

i think youre doing a really good job so far. however id cut out the popcorn for now as this is one of the biggest choking hazards for kids after nuts. everything else looks great, shes having a balanced diet and thats the most important thing. well done!

Hi i just wanted to let you know that popcorn twists are super super soft and melt in your mouth so they are not a choking hazard. Actually I don't even think they are made from popcorn so why they are called that i have no idea...

I would check what is in the popcorn things as they could be highly processed and have to much sugar or salt. Recently I have been making rissoto using veges, lentil, chicken and doing pasta in a similar form, adding riccota and yogurt makes it extra creamy and great for calcium intake. Also try buying just the natural yogurt and add fruit to it. For breakfast I will some times add slightly blended sultanas and fig very tasty.

Hope that helps.
