Go to the doctor, it's never stupid to ask about your health. Don't ignore pain because its your body telling you it needs help. Its probably just stress or you may need your eyes checked but you should ask about it anyway.

For pain relief try paracetamol and nurofen. You can alternate them every 3 hours as the body uses them in different ways. By this I mean  - for example- take one dose of paracetamol at 9am, one dose of nurofen at 12pm, paracetamol at 3pm and nurofen at 6pm for example.

You can do this for kids too if they are not well. Your body needs to deal with pain first before it can deal with healing itself, so its worth a try.

Hello trixie,

Your best action is to go straight to the Dr. I believe sincerly that he/she will not treat your condition lightly.

My old Matron, whilst I was doing my training, gave me some of the best advice I have ever had re headaches.

Drink at least 2 glasses of water as quickly as you can, go to the bathroom and stick your finger down your neck, and empty your stomach. It will taste terrible but it will get rid of the acidic buildup in your stomach. This can be caused by stress or many things.

Then have a cup of hot black tea, no milk or sugar, take a couple of analgesics and lie down with your eyes protected from light..

Do please go to your Dr and I hope all turns out well.

Best regards

I too am a severe headache and migraine sufferer. I have bad headaches almost daily and migraines fairly frequently. I've had MRI's, CT scans, chiropractic and massage treatment, all to no avail. To me, I have come to the depressing realisation that i am a headache sufferer and that's all there is to it. However, with yourself, I wouldn't be so blasé. Because you have memory loss/black outs, I really do strongly suggest that you seek medical/specialist help. It can mean any number of things. Don't Not go to the Dr for fear of seeming stupid. You'll feel more stupid if you don't go and find there is a serious underlying reason to them. Go see your GP, that's what they are there for!

you wont look stupid - even "normal" headaches are debilitating, migraines are worse and then there's all the really serious stuff which need to be caught as early as possible so you dont look really "stupid" for ignoring them.

I'd keep a record of which days they happen, time of day, duration, grade their severity, and if poss also write down eg. stuff you've eaten, problems sleeping, hot days where you might have dehydrated if you didnt keep up with your liquid intake, time of month, stressful days. Then you or your dr might be able to spot a pattern. If nothing else it will help your dr see whats really happening.

You could be experiencing miagraine(SP?) headaches.  If that is the case then you should avoid, nuts, coffee, banana's there is much more, just look it up, but those are the main ones.  See if avoid those helps you out.  I get really bad head aches from the weather changing so maybe if you are seeing a change in the weather then that could be the case.  If they don't go away and get worse you should really think about seeing a doctor because there could be much more then head ache.  In my family we have had bad luck with head aches in are family and they have been much more then just head aches and we are very lucky that we got  the problem in time.  You need to write down were the pain is because it could be sinus also.  With Miagrains you experience things before it happens.  I see spots and my hubby gets tunnel vision.  You also get really really sick with a miagrain.  I hope you can find out what helps because I know how hard it is to deal with headaches.

Honey, get to a doctor.

There are so many things that can cause headaches it's not funny. It could be some harmless problem that a change of diet could fix, or just a reaction to a plant pollen. Or it could be a problem that is much more serious, such as blood clots or cholestrol build up in veins/arteries in the brain, a tumour, lesion, swelling of the brain or the meningies, or it could be just a hormonal thing, stress, or sleep problem.

Get it seen to. If there's something seriously wrong, you want to get an mri and cat scan done to find it now before it's too late, but if it's nothing serious, at least then you'll know there's nothing to worry about.

and if you're having blackouts - get to a doctor asap, and I'd recommend that you avoid driving when possible. You don't want to black out behind the wheel!
