It's a game of round-a-bout. A child this young has the attention span of a gnat! So after 10 minutes or so he will get bored with what he is doing and want to move on to something else. The trick is to try and get him back to the beginning of his activities and start them again. Kids this age love repetition and it'll be all exciting again after an hour or two.

If you start your day playing with a ball, then go onto playing on a rocker, then watching a little kiddy tv show, then singing a song, reading a book, playing with toy a, then b, then c, then playing a little peek-a-book game, you've already done playdough, made a big mess playing with shaving foam in the bathroom, you've completely run out paper to scribble on with chunky crayons, and you've had enough of painting pictures on the cement outside with a big paintbrush and water (which never needs cleaning up!) then you run out of ideas - go back to the ball and repeat it all, but in a different mixed up order.

When my kids were little my house resembled a preschool with activities spread out all over the place. We had a paint easle and chalk drawing out the back; paper, crayons, and boxes of craft stuff all over and around a table inside; a small playdough table; various games and toys set up for playing with in different places; and the list goes on... Go to a kindergarten or playgroup one morning and watch them get all their activities out and prepared, and you'll have a good idea what my place was like!

Hi I'm in the same boat. I do silly things like stick pegs on his clothes, keeps him bust trying to get them off. Also he has a little trolley i fill with water and put some toys pegs ect in it with his toy water can or just let him get into the garden to get all grubby, he loves it even just crawling on the grass. I put little toys in an old handbag do it up and let him figure how to get them out. I even get on my knees and we play chasey or follow the leader, hard on the knee's but fun! Hope some of that helps

Have you tried putting some rice/pasta in a plastic container so that they can use it as a shaker?  My daughter loved hers.  you can also change what you put in them so that they make different noises to keep them interested.  reading books together, showing him how to turn pages (great for fine motor skills) also good for quite times.

My son loved that still does. And the good old kithen and the magic hidden everywhere. It might be noisy but few lids, pots and containers will keep kids amused for a long time.

I used to find that the jolly jumper was great for entertaining my little one for a while. She loved cardboard boxes and playing with pegs was also a favourite.

Have you tried going outside? I have a neice a little older than he is, she loves going for stroller rides, or just sitting on a blanket outside with her toys. You could also play with different toys, building blocks, musical toys. Turn on music and dance. You could go to the park. I love being outside, hope this helps.
