It's a game of round-a-bout. A child this young has the attention span of a gnat! So after 10 minutes or so he will get bored with what he is doing and want to move on to something else. The trick is to try and get him back to the beginning of his activities and start them again. Kids this age love repetition and it'll be all exciting again after an hour or two.
If you start your day playing with a ball, then go onto playing on a rocker, then watching a little kiddy tv show, then singing a song, reading a book, playing with toy a, then b, then c, then playing a little peek-a-book game, you've already done playdough, made a big mess playing with shaving foam in the bathroom, you've completely run out paper to scribble on with chunky crayons, and you've had enough of painting pictures on the cement outside with a big paintbrush and water (which never needs cleaning up!) then you run out of ideas - go back to the ball and repeat it all, but in a different mixed up order.
When my kids were little my house resembled a preschool with activities spread out all over the place. We had a paint easle and chalk drawing out the back; paper, crayons, and boxes of craft stuff all over and around a table inside; a small playdough table; various games and toys set up for playing with in different places; and the list goes on... Go to a kindergarten or playgroup one morning and watch them get all their activities out and prepared, and you'll have a good idea what my place was like!
