it is done by a fully blood test but it has been done though the urine Ido hope that this helps

With my first pregnancy it was just have full blood test then drink then wait an hour then more blood. The second pregnancy was even worse cause it was full blood then drink wait an hour full blood, wait another hour full blood, then wait another hour before final blood. So all up 4 lots of blood taken. But as others have said the waiting was the worst of all so take a really good book or some crosswords or something.

yes i hated the wait! The drink was fine (sorta yummy) and I have no problem with blood tests but the waiting was the killer lol

Just another note on top of these others - when i went and did mine they would not allow you to leave during that time, so you need to take something to read!  I loved it - didn't mind the drink and to sit for an hour and read magazines - bliss!

Here in the U.S., the glucose challenge test takes an hour. You drink that sweet drink (not so bad for me either, since it just tastes like a 7 up), and then they take your blood an hour later.   With my first pregnancy, the test came back slightly elevated and so I had to go back for another test, and this time it was for 3 hours. It was the longest 3 hours of my life. I had to drink the same thing, and then come back every hour for 3 hours.

Hopefully I don't need to go through the 3 hour test again this time.

its a full blood test.......you have fast ....you have to drink this jukkkk drink ...you have to sit for 2 hours then they take you blood....hope that helps.........
