Asthma

I have asthma and I am finding it worse with being pregnant.  I was just wondering if anybody else had this problem and if I can still use my inhailer? (sp?)

i to find my asthma became worse when i got pregnant (with both children). My doctor down graded my inhailer while i was pregnant though (i use to use the becatide), while i am pregnant I can only use the ventolin, which i must use 4-5 x a day. If things get any worse i have to go to the doctor or hospital - luckly i can manage with just the ventolin.
If you are concerned see your doctor - but as all the other below comments, your easy of breathing (therefore your baby getting good oxygen ) is more important.

I dont have asthma but have problems breathing no one knows why and I was using the inhailer for few months (this is before I was pregnant) but after a while I had to use it every 5 min or I felt like my whole body would explode I was dependent on it. I stoped using it and now I feel much better. As I said I dont have asthma so I dont recomend you do what I did.

Now as for the pregnancy I think everyone has a problem breathing at one point or another I found that If I slept on my side I could breathe better and than in the morning I had few good hours of good breathing untill everything moved back where it belonged.

Hi
Studies and tests have been done.....your puffer far outweighs the benefits of bub not being able to get enough oxygen.
If it wasn't safe i guarantee you would know

I had same problems. I only took my inhaler when i really needed too, but not all the time. It is ok to use your inhaler.

Hi

I suffered asthma and numerous chest infections during pregnancy. I took my inhaler as needed with the encouragement of my doctor - if Mum cant breathe neither can baby. I also had to take steroids for chest infections which were a C category in medications but again the risks of not being able to breathe outweighed everything. My baby was just fine! If you have any concerns you can phone your local midwifery clinic and they can advise, alternately make an appointment to see your doctor. Your health whilst pregnant is paramount for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
