toilet training?

Hi there

My Mum always said it was harder to train a boy than a girl.  I have a little boy and found it hard but he eventually got there by 2 1/2.  I personally think it might be harder for a boy.  When they start using a potty boys and girls both sit down.  When its time for the toilet then boys obviously need to stand up so thats a change to what they were doing on the potty.  Whereas girls still sit down, so not such a big change.  However boy or girl they all get there in the end. Good luck.

I think it depends on the child.all children are different. my 2 boys i can't say as their father trained them after he kicked me out so when i got them back both were day and night trained. but my daughter she was ready to go to the toilet she told us when her nappy was wet or pooed and it made it easier, she is 3.5yrs now has been day trained for quit some time and night trained for abotu 1.5mnths now she was in my opinion easy to train casue she had the right attitude to it. she wanted out of nappies and was happy in undies.she will start to show you some signs when she is ready.

I think each child is individual, my eldest was 1 to 2 yrs and my youngest was 15months. This was daytime aswell as night time. Both mine are girls. I know others that are older and just not ready.

I've been told that girls are harder than boys. My girl was out of nappies by 1 1/2 but my experience in childcare has said this: Boys usually start to show signs a little later, but they are easy to toilet train once they are started and show the initial signs. Girls show signs earlier but take a little longer, so even though boys are a little older generally they don't take as long.  Having said that though, each child is different and that is a very general picture of what I've seen in childcare.  My daughter was out of nappies by the time she started daycare at 1 1/2 and she did that mostly on her own.  All I did was put her in knickers when she was showing the signs and didn't put her back in nappies around the house ever.

I don't know if it is gender or just personality. Children are different and some of them just don't care about having pee or poo on them.

I have a girl that is 19mnths and she has been potty trained since 12mnths.  Granted that is extreamly rare, she was very easy.  I don't think it would be any harder, it's the same basics for learning for both girls and boys.
