My 5 year old has the same product.  Olive oil works, as does the Awesome ozioil from www.oziboi.com.au, and when it's really bad I use Nutririch oil from Nutrimetics.

All of these I put on, and let him play for a while, then I'll comb the hair backwards to loosen the cradle cap, then wash it off.  I lvoe the oziboi shampoo - it's gentle & smells great, and moisturising.  I've found some of the other baby shampoos still harsh on his scalp.

I hope this helps :)

Cradle cap - I found a product by Ego was excellent for it. Tried the oils and they didn't seem to work.

Sterilising - yep! can't remember when I stopped! Been a while.

Sterilizing stops after about 8 months, i still do mine one a week or so to try and make sure they are kinda clean.

Cradle Cap, try baby oil. Massage enough into their hair and leave it soak over night, then brush hard in morning and repeat again. Wash their hair on second night and scratch it out with fingers. It will take a couple of weeks doing it this way, but it will work!!

I stopped sterilising around 8 months. I figured it was pointless since he chewed on his Dad's work boots and any other grotty thing he could find. Never had a problem. He has only been ill once and I felt so bad that I had stopped boiling the bottles but turned out that it was from cow's milk.

I'm sorry I can't help you out with the cradle cap as my daughter has a bit of it still too and she's 13 months old.
Now for stop sterilizing the bottles and nipples, I stopped when my daughter was 7-8 months old. And just washed them with hot soapy water and rinsed them REAL well.
It's also good that you replace the nipples every 3 months (or so they say) to help with bacteria and what not that can happen.

the best thing that i found that got rid of craddle cap is applying 5mls olive oil with one drop of lavender oil (or if you have lavender growing then just add a few stems and pick of the flowering top and add to the oil) to the hair, leaving it on for a few hours then brushing the chlids hair, to help loosen it up, then applying shampo,(before wetting the hair) and then washing it.  I would do this about once - twice a week for about 4 weeks and have never had a problem with it since.

i stoped sterilizing my daughters bottles around 12 month mark or just after that.

I hope this helps

Yes, olive oil was recommended to me, seems to help. My sil, a hairdresser, says its not uncommon for kids who are at school still to have a little cradlecap.

Sterilising - I took the view that once they're picking up and mouthing everything else in the house, there's little point sterilising what they're eating with. I do tend to put it all through the dishwasher though, which must have some sterilising value!

Hi there, All my 6 children have had terrible cradle cap, though it didn't last as  long as 3 years I'm glad to say. What I always used, on advice from my midwife, was olive oil or cooking oil, leave it on to soften it a little bit before shampooing several times to get it all out. Hope this helps.

As for sterilizing baby's bottles and teats etc.....Health experts say we should continue to sterilize everything, until baby reaches 1 year old. As my last baby was born 12 weeks early, I still sterilize his, even though he is over a year now. I stopped sterilizing with the other 5 when they reached their 1st birthday. Health experts also state that all baby's feeding bowls and spoons etc. should also be sterilized until they are 1. To be honest, I have never actually put them iin the sterilizer, what I have always done with each of my kids is  immerse the bowls, spoons etc in boiling water for a few minutes immediately prior to each time I used them. All kids are ok, so must be doing something right!!

Cradle cap is really difficult to get rid of.  Just keep applying baby oil for as long as you need to.  About the sterilizing of bottles etc,  I personally didn't see the point once mine started putting stuff they picked up off the floor into their mouths.  I just made sure that the bottles and teats were very clean but stopped sterilizing them basically once they started crawling around.
