Travelling with Kids

We are thinking of having a driving/camping holiday with our kids (10, 5 and 2) and were after some advice and suggestions from people who have done it before. We will be travelling about 3000km over several days and need some ideas about how we can all make it out the other side.

Get them each their own hand held dvd's & go to your local library & get some out for free & tons of books & healthy snacks & drinks... Try to be moving longer distances at the 2yr olds normal sleep times & take breaks & meals when they all start to get a bit tetchy.  Stop places where the kids can run around & get fresh air outside, rather than at cafes etc that involve more sitting around.  Let the older kids help plan the trip & give them a map each so they feel more involved.  Let them pick places to see & stop at on the way so they can do something special.  I think it might be a slow journey, but if you are on holiday, what is the rush?!!!

WOW!!!  The most that we travel is 600kms and that's enough for me.  For my 6 year old he has a Game Boy and that is a God Send. For my 2 year old we take his fav toys; Thomas trains, Buzz and Woody etc we also take a supply of colouring in books and crayon/textas. We play kids music and story CD's, books.  For your 10 yr old i don't know, sorry i'm sure someone else will have ideas!  Have a great holiday!!
