Naughty Words

Im sure we have all been through it and if not were about to so I was wondering what you did. Chase turned around today and said "F%ck"
I told him it was naughty and put him in the corner but this didn't deter him and hes been saying it a lot today. I dont speak like this infront of the boys. I think I might have slipped...

I have tried the corner. Telling him its naughty. . . what worked for you??

SNAP!! i was gonna post this same question!

This morning i dropped a can of corn on the ground while in woolworths and said S**T! (as u know u shouldnt but do) as then had to listen to Jenaya saying S**T, S**T, S**T all the way down the aisle. Seemed the more i told her no, the more she said it and wider her smile went! All i can say is, lucky i was there early and nobody was out shopping then. I reckon im gonna try the aloe vera one written below. Thanx for that!

cheers, jo

My son is 20 months and has gone trough this phase twice. The first time we ignored it and it stopped. The second time this didn't really work so we started saying "truck? Where's the truck?". This worked a treatand he hasn't said it since! Good luck

Aloe is non-toxic. A great idea - soap worked for my little cousin but this is a much better & safer idea!

oh boy the naughty words  , well gone though it   at frist i didn't pay  attend to it  when they were young , but when they got older (like 5&6 )  well i took toys or they were in there room for part of the day ,when they got 7&8   if they say  a naughty word and if they can't tell me what its means , I get then  sit down and write  out the meaning form the dictoary  a 100 times .

This stop them swearing  after a few times of saying naughty words  , as what kid love writting a 100 lines when they can be out doing something elses

Naughty Words

Well, I have two teens, so unfortunately, my little guy has picked up a few naughty words.

I remember the first time he swore; it was actually quite funny.  The two older kids were yelling at each other over lord only knows what, and Justin said "F-you Chloe!"

Then, my lovely little-man danced arround the house singing, "F-you, Chloe, F-you, Chloe!"

Oh Lord, it made the kids stop fighting and everyone started laughing.  Sure did a good job of breaking the tension in the house.  But it did make it difficult to explain that wasn't a good thing to say, as he really enjoys being the clown.

But so far, ignoring it and not making a fuss has worked pretty well.  I also explained that people didn't want to play with someone being unpleasant, and saying those words is unpleasant.  That seems to work well with my son.  He doesn't want to do anything that will keep anyone from playing with him.

My oldest  is almost 3yo and she said it and it started about 2 and a half i ignored her and it went away. Now my youngest 19 months old came out with it on friday because she herd it down the stables with all the men. So i have told her three times it bad to say that word but she still did it every 5 mins so i ignored it and during the day it has got less and less. It seems to work but every child is different

good luck and hope what u try works for you

my sister had this way when her son said something like that she would say do you know what that is and he would say no she would say its food you put it on bread and eat it (for all unupropriate words) he would say it agai and she would say the same thing so after few times the novelty was gone and he would not say it again. It worked great.

I know it's not quite the same but my three year old has been saying "Poo Poo" like a million times a day and it is driving me nuts.  he says it to complete strangers and calls his friends "poo poo head".  So, after about a week of this and ignoring it, telling him "no", reassuring him it's not funny etc.... I told him today that every time he said it I would take money out of his money box - harsh measures I know!  It seems to be working so far!

well i gotta tell ya, my neice grew up around a pretty foul mouthed fathers side of the family, the first time she sweared/cursed at me was when she was 4 and i wouldnt let her outside unless she had her gumboots on, she wouldnt let go of the door handle and i was trying to pry her off it, she turned to me and said ''let me go you.... you bi*tch! oh i was hurt, and yeah i let her go, she ran out into the yard and then i took her by the hand kneeled down and i explained that ''pretty'' (giving her good reason) little girls shouldnt swear then i told her to apologize. it worked...

she ignores the swearing that goes on around her and knows (taught by me) that its not polite to swear... good as gold ever since.. she is nearlly 10 now :)

maybe you could try explaining to Chase that ''cool men'' dont swear, and if they do, they are not cool, then as he grows change the reasons towards politeness and respect :)

Hi Mel

When Ollie first said F--k!! I coud not believe my ears.  My cousin was around at them time and I said "did he say what I thought he just said"  How funny!!! you cant help but laugh as they are so young.  I agree just ignore him he will soon get fed up.  You are also right we do slip up from time to time and say things we should not but hey "none of us is perfect"

Mell first i want to ask you how old he is?

under th e age of about 3 to 4 yrs i just ignor it and it will stop, while he is gettin your attention for saying it he will say it more.

over that age well out comes the soap, i did that to my oldest and only had to do it once.some dont like the soap but i had it when i was a kid and it never did me any harm. I swar i would not do that to my kids but have with only 1 and he never said it again

other then that htere ia always peper or mustard (these two i would not use but mum did on my brother and it was not nice.)

good luck hunni hope he lets the word go really soon for ya
