Big Babies

Hi All.

Hope someone will have some advice for me on this????

My first bub arrived in december 06 and he was a 9 pounder (4kgs) i ended up having an emergency c-section due to non-progression of labour which my doc had already pre-pared me for as there was a 50% chance i would have to have to have one anyway as my little man never dropped down at all.

My question is, as my first baby was on the bigger side, im assuming that all future babies will be around the same size...............is this correct????

Im also wanting to hear about vaginal births after having a c-section delivery as i would like to deliver naturally next time.

If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i was in the exact position as you.. dominik was 9lbs 3oz.. i had to have a c section due to non  progressive labour i went to 3 cm and didnt go any more.. plus they had to get him outta there because he had pooped inside of me from being under stress.. i had constantly contracted for the last 2 weeks i was pregnant... dominik did drop but when i was 30 weeks which put me into labor my cervix started to soften and everything, and thnk god it stopped.

But at about 35-37 weeks he came out of my pelvis because his head was too big, he had a 15"  head. a basketball for a head, is how the doctor put it.. I was told that there was a good chance that i was going to have a c section. which i ended up having..

I really wanted to have a vaginal birth, so i asked if i was ever going to be able to have one after having a c section. the doctor told me that its possible to do so but i would have to be constantly under supervision and have to be laying down for the whole labour because my uterus could pop/tear because of the incision that was made for the c section.

If i have another child i really wanna try for a vaginal birth so iam definatly going to go for it. i hope this helped a bit.. it may be different where you live but i doubt it.. medics is medics so..

Hi, I have 2 boys - both born by c-section. My first (8 pound 4 ounces) was an emergency c-section after 24 hours of labour & the second (7 pound 13 ounces) was a planned c-section as the doctors won't let me deliver naturally - ever! The doctor said as my second was delivered 2 weeks earlier than the first they would have probably been exactly the same wieght & length had they been delivered at the same time. No one can really say if they get bigger or smaller as you go. I hope you can deliver naturally next time. I would have loved to, unfortunately it isn't possible for me, don't be disapointed if you can't though - they are just the same either way!

Hi! I suggest you read KSeers advice about VBACs as she did what you hope to do!

Hi there, I once read in a parenting magazine that subsequent babies generally go up in size by about 200g per child. That being said though, my first was 8lb 8oz and my second was 7lb 7oz. I think it's really just luck of the draw. Hope this helps.

I'm one of 3.  My older brother was 9lb 2, I was 6lb 1oz and my younger brother was 7lb 8oz. M;y daughter was also 7lb 8oz.  My cousin had 3 children, the first was just over 7lb, the second one was 56cm but only weighed 6lb something even though she was the longest baby born at the hospital at that time, and the 3rd was 8lb something. I can't remember their exact weights, but I do remember the pounds part of it.

Hi love i have 4 children i have had them all natural but because you have had a big baby it does not mean that you will again every one is different my first was 7pound 5 ounces, 2nd was 10 pound and 1 ounce, 3rd was 8 pound 12 ounces and my last was 7 pound 7 ounces its all different having them all natural it all hurt labour was painfull everytime i tell someone that i had a 10 pound baby they all say gee that must of hurt ( me being so short) but whether it was 10 pound or 7 pound they all hurt big or smaller, even though it hurt it was one of the most magical things that i have ever experienced and as soon bubby is born you forget the pain you just fall in love with this gentle cuddly precious baby good luck love xxx

every baby is different, mine got smaller, i had a c-section with my first and had a natural wiht the second so if everything is ok then there should not be  a problem with it.

my third was another c-section
