I dont and have never tried to pull the foreskin back. He screams when I wipe over it with a cloth or a wipe and tells me it hurts. And he really puts up a fuss.

It looks funny compared to other penises I have seen at that age. Im just so worried that there is something wrong with it. I am now booked into the doctor this week coming and will see what he says. I highly doubt my son will even let the doctor look.

At the moment I am heavily leaning towards getting it done. Thanks for all your advice.

WELL I NEVER HEARD OF THAT EITHER. ALL MY 5 BOYS HAVE BEEN CIRCUMCISED AND WERE ALL UNDER THE AGE OF 1 EXECPT FOR MY LAST ONE WHOM WAS 2.5 AS HE WAS SICK WHEN BORN AND I WAITED TILL HE WAS THIS AGE TO GET JHIM DONE. i HAD NO PROBLEM AT ALL GETTING/FINDING A DR WHO WOULD DO IT ANYWAY NOT EVEN WITH ANY OF THE OTHER BOYS. ONE OF MY SONS WAS DONE AT 6WEEKS OLD SO THEY MUST BE BORN WITH A FORSKIN FOR A DR TO BE ABLE TO DO THE SNIP AT THAT AGE DON'T YOU ALL AGREE??!!!!!

Sorry but I'm just a little confused about that info, to my knowledge all boys are born with a foreskin and it detaches from the tip during the first two years. If it didn't grow over until they were older then I'm concerned about what would be "snipped" when babies are circumcised......Also boys don't automatically know to pull it back and clean it, they have to be taught in most cases.

I was told by doc to start gently pulling my son's foreskin back for cleaning from about 18 months. As he was that age when I started doing this he has never had a problem with keeping it clean and has never had an infection. He is now 6 and a half and keeps it clean himself. If you've never tried to pull it back there is a good chance that it could be infected. If the infection can be cleared up it won't be painful for him to have you clean it. There are instances where the foreskin fails to detach from the tip of the penis and surgical intervention is necessary, but it doesn't always mean the full snip. In Australia and New Zealand it is very hard to find a doctor who will circumcise without strong medical reasoning, hence most boys born in the last decade still have their foreskins.

one of my sons always had this problem also , he always got infections , i took him to the docs and he used to gently  pull it back just a little bit , the germs and wee gets trapped under the skin , when they get older and it slowly loosens up and and falls back more easy  ,i had to take extra care when i changed him to wash the area with just warm water to help guard him against infections ,the doc told me that they usually wont just get the snip unless i either kick up a fuss or he has more infections ,, as he got older and the skin fell back he hasnt had a problem with it ,, i just had to teach him how to look after it with the docs help ,,

Hi I have a 3yr old son who at the age of 2 was getting infections on his penis it would end up twice the size. This was not due to me not washing or trying to teach him to pull it back to clean the dr had no explanation. i have five sons and each and everyone of them is circumsiced. My eldest was lucky we had him done in a way as when he was placed into the day surgery for the op the drs found a funny sound in his heart that had not been picked up prior to this. It turned out that at 7mnths old we found out that my son had a v.s.d. which is a hole in the heart. he has to have antibiotics if he has dental or operations done. Not that this was the reason for having my other 4boys done. I just think that in this day and age with all the sexually transmitted diseases it is alot more cleaner and healthier.. but that is my opinion. My son that kept getting infections is now done and has not once complained or had any infections since. It turned out that the foreskin was too tight at the bse. Hope this advice can help..

I would go and ask your GP if you are worried or even your health nurse.

Hi there

I went through this with my little one when he was about 2.  He would not let me clean and also pull the skin back but the doc said not to pull it back too far as this will hurt anyway.  He would not let him pull it either  but the did not need to do it too much to see that it was really tight.   He said that he may have to be circumcised but to leave it for now because sometimes the skins loosens by itself and it did.  Good luck.
