I had a singlet on my daughter almost 100% of the time as an infant. The only time she didn't have one on was when she wearing an outfit for a photo or to go out somewhere briefly that a singlet would have looked stupid under. It's been getting cooler at night now so she's back in singlets at night time and it's still cool this morning so I'm sending her to daycare in a singlet. They can change her if it gets warmer, but we leave in 10 minutes and it's still cool now. I'm just wondering if there are other singlet-pushing mums out there as I'm looked at like an alien the times she has gone to daycare in a singlet. I always tell the staff that she's in a singlet and to get her to take it off if it gets warmer and other mums think I'm just the strangest person.
as a child my mum always had one on me and my sister til we were about 10 so no your not werid or anything. i tried with my 2 but they didnt like them much.
My kids had singlets my grandchild has singlets and the baby hasnt even arrived yet, the baby will be a winter baby and singlets help keep the warm in and the cold out....and nanna has been buying bonds, bright bots all sorts in all sorts of sizes and my daughter is thrilled, her friends who have babies used singlets so tey are not gone or out the door they are just as useful and definately more fashionable that they were but they are still around and being utilised by parents.
a singlet is an undergarment that is like a tee shirt with no sleeves, sort of a tank top, a lot of men wear them under business shirts, also standard attire for Aussie truck drivers! Ian
Ohhhhh!!! Here we call them wife~beaters! LOL... just because, they are undershirts and it is a joke, although a bad one I am sure if you are a victim of abuse, but most of the guys on tv who are on the cop shows, for domestic violence are wearing them. I like to wear them, I have them in a few different colors. Good to know what they are called in Aussie, I think they are called A shirts to give it the correct name, but most people would say wife~beater. hmmmm. I will probably be voted down for this one.....
my son (4) wears singlets all year round if he is hot during summer I take the t-shurt off and he only wears singlet and he is so used to it that when I dress him (or should I say help him dress) if I forget a singlet he would go and get it him self.
winter time i put singlet on my two , i rather them keep warm them be cold and catch a flu . the nights are getting cooler now , as the morning is to now they just put one on As they are feeling cool coming on , I just think its just nurtral for kids to have singlets on though the winter months anyway .
My boys all still wear them in winter. The oldest is 15. Don't think I will ever discourage it. They wear them all year round, even if it is just the singlet.
my son is three he was getting cold of a night and i have had him in a singlet now for about two months and in the last two weeks he wears one all the time now and yes he may get a bit hot but he is not boiiling through the day and i would be happy noing that he is wormer and not going to get a chil or sick
your not the only singlet pusher i stand there with you on both my children
Singlets are great, they add that little bit of extra warmth, comfort and they are long enough to tuck in properly... I see so many kids dressed inappropriately in t-shirts and shorts on cooler days and evenings. I read once that babies and toddlers should have one more layer of clothing than us. I think this is especially true when they are sitting in their stroller and we are pushing them along outside. We are warm as we are moving, they are getting a wind chill factor, plus not moving - so of course they need to be dressed in warmer clothes than we do.
You needn't worry about what anyone thinks in regard to your bubs wearing singlets. It is a good idea, and if it gives you peace of mind, and keeps bubs warm - then of course it is a great idea.
In summer my toddler daughter would prefer to be completely naked but I usually had her wear a singlet to absorb some of the sweat which then helped keep her cool. In winter singlets are great, they can give adequate warmth under a long sleeve shirt without the bulk of a jumper or jacket (depending on how cold it gets of course). I don't know why anyone would think wearing singlets is weird.....most adults wear them as regular clothing anyway, not just as undergarments.
my whole family wore singlets as children and my children do also ,, to me putting one on is as natural as putting your socks and shoes on ,, I love them
LOL i thought the question was quite strange (jokes)
wearing a singlet was like a daily routine for me up until 2nd-3rd grade :) on cool days...
im sure ill be doing the same with my son (even though boys like wearing them their whole life) dont fuss about it, if its cold outside she is better off wearing one to keep her warm :)
if there is a BIG W around where you live, you can get different colour singlets so they match the outfit, hope this helps :)
She often wears singlets on hot days around the house just on their own. It's not uncommon for people to turn up here to find her in knickers and a singlet lol.
She has heaps of different ones, she has the Bonds ones with the different colours on them, but she has solid colour ones as well so that she can wear a colour under a shirt of the same colour. Today she's got a hot pink shirt on so i've put a hot pink singlet on underneath just so it doesn't look odd.
PMSL well I must be strange as well I have been a singlet enforcer with my kids. B in Summer is often only in a singlet, however through winter she always wears one.Do what you feel is right who cares about raised eye brows....have a great day regards Merle
