Hair lose

My son has a build-up of some sort on his head and when it flakes away it takes chunks of his hair with it.  leaving a little bold spot.  I find that when his hair is short it doesn't act up.  Should I take him into the doctor to see if the hair lose is more or has anybody experienced it with there children.  He has had it for a while now so it isn't anything new.

I did figure it was cradle cap and it isn't to bad, it all depends.  The longer his hair is the worse it is because it is hard to rinse I guess.  Which is bad on my part.  We also have conditioner on his head because his hair is so dry.  I will keep an eye on it rinse with fresh water from the tap instead of bath water.  Also a hair cut is in order this weekend.  Thank you for your answers.  I will take him in if it doesn't get better.

if it is cradle cap always rinse your babies hair with fresh water after the bath to make sure there is no traces of any soap... worked for both of my kids! my 3yo NEVER got it!!!

I agree, it sounds like cradle cap.  My little one had it and I used to bath him in sorbelene cream.

As the others have said it might be cradle cap. Take him to the doctor anyway. I have the same thing and its a severe medical condition so you ptrobably want to get it checked just in case :)

my son had the same thing it's cradle cap you can buy a product from woolworths or a chemist called "wild child oil"  it's great cover his scalp in it leave it over night and in the morning bath him and wash it of gently rubbing it off his scalp it may take a couple of goes but really does work

This sounds to me as if it is cradle cap, sometimes doing your child's scalp in olive every second day will help this problem.....the thing is if u don't clear it up the hair wont grow back until the scurff is all gone.If the olive oil doesn't work I would take him to the doctor they can prescribe a product(forget the name)that will clear it up quick smart.Regards Merle
