Allergies

Hi my 4 year old suffers from allergy and seasonal asthma. All the other advice is fantastic and i was going to say the same thing lol.

Its best if you go to your doctor and find out, ventolin helps clear the airways and opens them up so they can breath easier. (which you may have known) But i have also found it helps dry up the congestion on her chest, which helps her clear it.

Another thing you can look at is what was he doing, eating, drinking, before he got the cough could any of those things have triggered it off?

Good luck and I wish you both well.

My 2 year old son has seasonal asthma. Everytime we get cooler weather - esp at night. He has 2 puffers - one is a preventer and the other is a symptom treatment. Basically when he is coughing we give him the ventolin (treatment) and sit him upright until the coughing stops. My daughter was the same at the same age and now she is growing out of it. I suggest a visit to the doctor - even if its just to eliminate asthma. Do you have any pets in the house that he could be allergic to. The other thing could be food allergies - its a process of elimination but once you eventually find out the problem its usually relatively easy to deal with. Good luck matey.

My 6 year old has Asthma and the main symptom for him is coughing but he also has a wheeze at the same time. You will need to take him to the doctor to get checked out, especially at this time of year coughs can be very persistant. Good luck and I hope he doesn't have Asthma.......

Yeah I did take him in last year and the doctor told me that it could possibly be asthma but that we shouldn't do anything about it because you don't want to deal with it at such a young age.  Know I know that doctor had no idea what he was talking about.
