I had to have my wisdom tooth taken out recently so I understand tooth ache. It is the worst pain. I got an infection first and my whole jaw swelled up and I could bearly sleep. The dentist gave me anti-biotics as this must go down before the tooth could be removed. It costs heaps I know but you should go to your dentist before it gets any worse. I got some numbing cream to put on it as well as codiene forte when it was really bad.

Hi there

Ummmm, have you tried going to the dentist?? Maybe it just needs a filling.

As for taking tablets...I am the worst in the world!!! If I have a script to fill I always ask if it can come in a liquid ie. antibiotics. The pharmasist will laugh at me and then usually say yes. God forbid I ever have to take any regular medication, I'd be stuffed!

Hi i have problems with tablets also i used to gag all the time. I usually take them with milk the milk coats the tablet and helps it slide down your throat, also put the tablet about 1to 2cm from the tip of your tongue, take a mouthful of milk, curl your tongue around the sides of the tablet and toss the tablet down your throat using your tongue. As you toss the tablet toss your head back as well and that should help. It works for me just about every time unless i put the tablet too far down my tongue!! GOOD LUCK hope this helps

HI there, another thing you could try is clove oil. One drop of this where the pain is and it will completely disappear. The only problem with this is that it tastes really bad. You could ask your chemist for some advice.

cloves are great for toothache. just put one on the tooth. Otherwise for a list of different remedies try http://www.otan.dni.us/webfarm/emailproject/tooth4.htm

As for taking tablets, my Mum used to crush them on the spoon and add some jam for my sister - she couldn't swallow tablets at all.

Hope it helps. Leisa

You have to be very careful about breaking tablets for easy swallowing.  Some tablets are coated with a special coating that protects them from the acid in your stomach.  The acid might destroy the effectiveness of the tablet.  Another reason not to crush tablets is that some tablets have a special formulation that makes them act over a specific period of time/or releases the active substances at different stages and by breaking them, this effect is destroyed too.  There are different ways of trying to swallow tablets - try putting it as far back on your tongue as you can before taking a drink of water.  Another way is to fill your mouth with water  while the tablet is in there, get the tablet floating and quickly swallow the lot.  Hope this helps.

Tooth aches are the worst thing in the world . . .  I can't stand em . . . . Have you been to the chemist as there is a type of Nerofren that is just for tooth pain and it is GREAT!

Another GREAT thing is Cepacaine - you get it at your chemist . . I used an ear bud to put it strat on the tooth . .Numbs the little sucker better that any teething gel . . .

Goodluck mate . . Cheers Kellz
