Hypersensitive Gag Reflex

Hi, My 6 month old has a hypersensitive gag reflex. Can anyone relate and or give any advice as to how to reduce the sensitivity? Or maybe some advice on how to feed a hungry baby with this problem?

Hypersensitive Gag Reflex
my youngest twin was a seriously gagger and would trow up at leat 1 in three bottles and even now she only has to coughand she can vomit. i found that i had to make her meals smaller and more frequent  and as smooth as possible and keeping food moist  or a drink really close helps, i found that giving a drink of boiled water after a few spoonfuls of food made her better too, i hope they grow out of it but sadky my mother s the same even now at 48 she ca gag or vomit at the slightes throat tickle

Hypersensitive Gag Reflex
Hi, thanks for your input. I've tried the water thing before, he gagged on it too. My sister is 31 and she still has the problem too. He gagged this morning on Farex but then when I fed him pear at lunch and then dinner, he wolfed it down no problems, so I'm wondering if it is a textural thing or whether it was a behavioural thing but will see how things go!! It's always interesting though when they gag then cough the food all over you!! The good times never stop when you're a mum huh?!?

Hypersensitive Gag Reflex

charlie had this and when ever he would eat or drink it would all just come up again

we went to the pedie on the matter and he put charlie onto a reflex milk and said to keep the food as runny as you can or as mashed

so that when he would eat it it wouldn't effect him as much and the reflex milk worked a treat cause it is thicker than the others  try and keep her away from the moo juice (cows milk) for as long as you can too (doctors advice for us)

good luck hope that helped there is a web site that you can go to too

i'll find it and post it for you
