If it is true you are unable to open bottles (although I don't think this is true because you have to be able to feed while the baby is on the plane) you could try a pacifier/dummy.  Also, you should be holding the baby on take off and landing and NOT in the bassinet.  Breast feeding is possible then.

What country are you flying out of??

In Australia, they make you strap the baby onto your lap with a special strap that goes through your seat belt.  They wont allow you to place the baby in the bacinet or even lower the bacinet during take offs and landings.

i bottle fed my son when we were taking off and landing, but that was before the new laws came in

i think the best thing to do is ring the airline you are flying with and ask for their advice. i think that once they are sealed to go on the plane, you should be able to open them once you are seated. the airline would be the best people to ask! they are generally pretty undertanding when it comes to infants and children!
