mother in laws can be very difficult thats for sure, i do not have one as my husbands mother died when he was 6, but i have a mother and a sister in law lol,  and my mum dosn't like her much at all, the thing is you've gotto find some common ground with them, find out what they are interested in and what  beliefs they have and work on it around that, my mother is old fashioned like me, wereas my sister in law is pretty plump, watches alot of telli, not into cooking, shopping,cleaning and all that stuff so my mum don't like her much sigh! but you get that lol, (though my mum is nice to her and makes an effort for my brother she still windges about her every chance she gets) my mum will get over it, but what i'm trying to say is just find something you know she likes and give it a try so you's have something to talk about i guess, anything is worth a shot i guess

has she lost any children in her life that were babies? my mums a bit if and ry around kids because she lost 2 of her own and she dosent want to get 2 close to the kids just in case somethink happens again.

It took my so called mother in law to want to see her grandson afterhe was over a year old ,, but at times i wish she hadnt met him cause now shes finding faults with things that i do with him ,,, (now its her granson ) to see the child is too except the realionship that you are in with her son ,, ( been there and still going thought it now )

Sorry, don't know what happened. But as I was saying, being someone who has never known my dad, I can tell you that establishing relationships as deep into the family tree as possible is a good thing for all involved.

if she has no reason for it then i agree with merle... don't waste your time... people like that only give toxicity to a relationship it's ok not to get along with your mother in law and it's ok for your son not to see her... my partners father has never met our kids or me and never wants to, he's a real hermit...lol... i gave up on it a long time ago when i realised it was his loss and noone elses...

Your probably not going to get anywhere with her you may need your babys daddy to say something. Maybe get him to see if he can find out why she doesnt want anything to do with him then you can go from there. Does she get along with you?
