Hi there found this site by accident but glad i did. I was thinking it might be a great way to find any other mums/dads who might be new to Perth too. I'm the proud mum of a scrummy 18 month old, my equally scrummy husband and i have been here from the uk for a few months now. He works full time and i'm a stay at home chick these days, having left a great job and lot's of friends at home i'm now trying to make some new friends who might also be feeling a bit like the days are long without the odd pal to chat too share coffee and energetic kids activities, that kind of thing. I figured i can't be the only newbe here. We love it here and it's been a great adventure, but much harder than i thought to feel a bit out of the loop friends wise. Any advice from anyone else out there would be really appreciated. I'm close to the city( Mt lawley) and just getting to grips with where all the mother groups are. They are great don't get me wrong but incidental chat is hard to build into good frienships. Does that make sence??Anyway love to hear from anyone. Happy Aussie mothers day by the way.
I'm not a mum but an aunt (and Minti Admin/Support). I live a couple of suburbs away from Mt Lawley. Mt Lawley's a great place - if you like food! And if you like to hire out movies at the video/dvd shop, check out Planet Video.
I know there is a Perth Parents group on Minti - I'm not a member myself, but it may be interesting for you to join? See http://www.minti.com/groups/315/Perths-Playdate-Group/ and http://www.minti.com/groups/482/Perth-Western-Australia/
If you or your kids like Fish and Chips you could try Swish n Chips. They double as a small fresh seafood seller as well. It's near Dome. They're quite cheap and have specials Monday to Thursday. I can understand if your kids like the fried fish and chip type thing but you don't - but not to worry, tuesday is teriyaki tuesdays. (ie, teriyaki fish specials on tuesdays). They also do Thai fish and chilli mussels and stuff too.
hiya im a perth girl to. (in forrestfield) would love to meet up with other parents from here. i have 2 kids a 3 and 5 year old and a hubby. hubby is currently looking to go back to work after a year of looking after me. (see profile)

Thankyou so much for your reply. Youve had enough on your plate so appreciate it a lot. It's nice to know your not alone. Glad your hubby is looking after you so well.
Hi cariad - I moved to Perth from the UK about 8 years ago and understand how tough it can be when new to a place. Currently live in West Swan but spend lots of social time in Mount Lawley ()cafes, restaurants, etc). All I can say is it gets easier with time and gradually it will come good.
Just wanted to say a huge thankyou. My family always say hang in there but it's so good to get reassurance from someone out there whos been there! It was really kind of you to do that for a stranger and has perked me up. I'm not a miserable person quite the opposite just finding this tougher and lonlier than i thought. I'm hopeless without friends i've always been v sociable.
Anyway thanks for taking the time. Take care Ps the cafe's are fab here!
Hi I am from Perth too, Bentley to be exact and look after 3 year old twins in Maddington. I have been taking them to a playgroup once a week for the past year now and am only just getting to know the mother's there now. They have actually started to invite me to a few of there parties and so on now. Sometimes it takes a while to settle in and get to know people. Maybe you haven't clicked with anyone yet but if you find someone you think you like you could always offer a coffee on another day. Hope you have a great time here too on minti.
Hiya, have been here in perth for nearly four years now. I have three kids, two 8yr olds and the newest one is 9 months old.
I am about 15 minutes from the city, so not far from you.
I used to work and am a home chick too. would LOVE some adult conversation. FYI I tried to join the perth group here on minti and had no reply after 5 days so i gave up. Maybe you will have more luck.
