Morning sickness

My daughter is pregnant with her first child. She is suffering from morning sickness. I can't give her any advice as i NEVER suffered from it myself and i had 5 children.
she can't seem to be able to eat the same things more then twice..She started to keep some crumpets down for about a week, but they came back up yesterday. So they are now of the list.
She used to be able to eat any breakfast cereals, but now we have to go through them one at a time to see what stays down.

Rebecca had vomited so much one morning that she tore her throat and had a little bit of blood in the vomit.

any advice would be very welcomed. It is very frustrating  and upsetting for me because i can't help her.As any mum knows we wish we could take the pain away for them.

She is also getting stomache cramps the last 3 mornings.,i told her to ring the midwives at the hospital, but she hasn't done that yet.

she is experiencing so many problems, that i never had with any of my pregnacies.

i'm really hoping you still get this but you need to get her to a dr ASAP she could be suffering from a problem some expectant mothers get, i don't know the name of it but if she is that sick and is throwing up blood from tearing then she needs to be seen, most women suffer from morning sickness but this is more than that and she needs help. she really should be taking herself down there, it can be quite bad if left untreated the women can become quite ill and the baby will be affected also she needs medical treatment NOW
good luck and i hope this helps

I had morning sickness for the first 6 months with my daughter. Really it's trial and error. But i did find that a cold cloth on the back of my neck before getting up (and that includes out of a chair) really helped. Ginger ale and Ginger Beer helped me - as did a pocket full of jatz biscuits whereever I went. Try to stay off dairy first thing in the morning - give your tummy time to settle with something boring like plain toast, a plain bagel etc. And if you crave ANYTHING at all - eat it. There is more chance of keeping down what you're craving. I LIVED on McChicken Meals at McDonalds. Don't know what was in that "chicken" but it made me feel much better.

Hiya, I went to the health food shop and they made me an "Australian Bush Flower Remidy" for morning sickness. I had to put it under my tongue before bed and in the morning. It didn't stop the sickness but made it more bearable.

Also, I would try the travel sick bands that you can get from the chemist. They go on your presure points. I couldn't use these because I hadn't told my work so it would have looked really sus, but I wanted to give them a try.

There are so many things that you can try.  Eating saltine crackers before getting out of bed in the morning.  Drinking lemon juice, straight from the lemon, eating small bites of ginger root or ale.  But if she is that bad she should call the dr, it sounds like she may needs a Rx in order to get it under control.  Since she seems to not be able to keep much down as for a suppository type of anti-nasuea medicine.  As for the cramping, wjem you have severe vomiting, that can be normal as your stomach is a muscle and all muscles get tired after a while.  Hang in there!

Hi, I had terrible morning sickness with both of my prenancies & nothing worked much for me. I tried all of the other suggestions you have been given. I would get her to try everything suggested here, one by one, and see if any work. If nothing helps take her to the doctor as they can give her tablets to help with the nausea (didn't help me but they may help your daughter) or an injection if they thinks it's needed. If all else fails she may have to be put in hospital for a while. Good Luck - I know how she feels!

this worked for me with my m/s  the BRAT diet this is what i have always been told to give my kids when they had the stomach flu

it is bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast  very little amounts at first bcuz her stomach has probably shurnk from not eating   the crackers b4 you get out of bed in the morning also helped  as i started to be able to hold down the things on the brat diet i added potatoes (mashed and boiled also baked)  teh other thing was chicken broth again very little amounts to start off

what concerns me is the cramps on top of everything else  as someone said do whatever you need to get her to the dr's  the cramps could be the start of dehydration ????   as my dh says it is better to be safe and question the dr about everything you are not sure of  good luck to her and i will keep her in my thoughts

when i was pregnant with charlie i spent 6months in the hospital due to morning sickness and not been able to keep anything down at all , i would spend days vomiting and to the point were my thorat would bleed,i was on drips and everything,  there is a condition but i can't remember the name of it i'll find it out and let you know,  my body was rejecting everything that i would eat and drink to the point were my liver and kiddneies were shuting down cause of it, so i know how she feels like all the other mums that have answered,  my on advice that i can give is eat little and eat something on the hour and make sure you try and keep the water up it helps,  i was like this from the day i fell pregnant to the day charlie was delivered

hope that this has helped, i know that it is easy to give advice and hard to put into use but on the days that she can eat something do try but the water is the really important thing,

HI ,an old fashioned remedy was to keep a packet of dry biscuits beside the bed and as soon as you wake up and get out of bed you eat 1 or 2 ,saos or salada are good.May not do much for more severe morning sickness give it a try,but i see some of the loverly minti ladies have given you some more suggestions to try for more severe cases.I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon so she can enjoy her pregnancy.

                                                 Good luck Cham

I had it right up until having Hannah.  Nothing worked. I was having maxalon daily. The injection stopped it but only for a few hours.  I found myself eating then vomiting then eating again straight after because i figured something must have been staying down. I literally lived off toast and water the entire time as that seemed to stay down a little longer before coming back up so i decided to just have that and although I tried other things, they didn't stay down at all. Even the maxalon pills came back up within a few minutes of taking them.  I bought the bracelet from the chemist that's meant to stop it, didn't work.  But at the end of the pregnancy I had a baby that was 7ob 8oz and fully alert. Mind you I weighed less the day before she was born then I did before falling pregnant.  But she was no worse for wear because of it.  Sorry I can't be of assistance in finding what stops it as I never did find it but I thought I would give some sympathy and just let you know that my child was fine and healthy at the end.  But I did always make sure I kept eating even if I just vomited.

I also suffered terribly with morning sickness vomiting (if I didn't pop my magic pill) up into the 7th month, it completely ruined my pregnancy experience.

I started using a herbal pill from the health food shop and that stopped the actual vomitting but did nothing to dispell the nausea which is worse I think than actually being sick, at least you get 10 minute of feeling ok after vomitting, feeling LIKE you're going to be sick is by far more abilitaing in my book, so I went to my GP and he gave me a prescription for Moxilon..................OH THE BLISS.  If I forgot to take them I would remember soon enough, they took away everything, the nausea as well.

I did find that if I couldn't get my hands on one (one a day usually was all I needed) salt and vinigar chips worked OK, but there's only so many of them you can eat.  If she likes the taste of ginger (I unfortunately do not) Ginger ale or anything with Ginger in it is also good for settling digestion.

Try the herbal things first, they may work for her, though she does sound pretty bad, I'd go to the Dr and get Moxilon (they also use it for people under going radiation & chemo as they also suffer nausea) taken as directed they are perfectly safe for bub.

I too had HORRIBLE morning sickness. Try some over the counter medicine for motion sickness, or homeopathic medicines usually work well too. Also, try to keep something in your stomach all the time. Such as crackers or soup.I know this doesn't sound fun, but on days I was really sick I stayed in bed. I only got up to use the batheroom, shower, or eat. This helped me a lot. I would also see a doctor. You don't want the baby to suffer and not be getting enough nutrients.
