 i had the same thing happen to me a the doctor suggested  NYAL JUNIOR SALINE NASAL DROPS you can get this at any woolworths or coles or chemist and it is fantastic. i hope this work good luck.

When my son has a cold I use panadol and dimatapp. I am not sure at what age you can give this (my son started at 10months). it is used for allergies and clears up his congestion really well. You can only use it for 3 days though no longer, if required for longer I get antibiotics. I use it as my son can not sleep with a congested nose. At that age Fess little noses works to extract stuff. I have been told not to use vicks on their skin (even at 17 months) if you want to use it their are similar brand designed for babies but still dont use on the skin. Grab a bib or washer and put it on that then put it near baby. hope this helps.

The only thing i cant think to add is that the only way to get the boogies is to place a cotton tip at the base of his nose and slowly turn it in circles.

Hi I know that some of our mothers at our group give there baby a brand called Brauer and they have a cold and flu mix. I'm not sure on the age that they can take this. But they say it's good. I use Brauer Wind as soph has had problem getting wind up at night and I find that it's great. Also I use to spray a bit of Lemsip Spray for cold in her room About 15 min before she went to bed, this helps them breathe. The Brauer  product you can buy at the chemist and lemsip spray at the supermaket. Good Luck. Let us know how you go... Tracey

i recommend using a combination of a baby nasal aspirator (from any chemist or baby shop) and the saline drops. i'm currently using these with my two month old. never use vicks on children as it's strong smell can halt their breathing!! remember that when they have a cold their lung capacity is less. see your doctor if your at all worried.

hey well yes vicks works on there feet i use to do it for my son also you could give fess a try its horrible its saline drops up there nose and then you suck out there boggers they hate it but it helps them sleep and no they can't blow there nose at that age hope this helps a little

Even at 4 they cant blow their noses!  hahaha!  We only wish!

Poor little fellow.  It's so aweful to see them sick.  Panadol is probably the only thing you can give him.  Vicks could be a little strong, but a tiny bit on his feet I dont thing would hurt - what do the rest of you all think?

Other than that, you can get a vapouriser from the chemist and turn that on in his room just to moisten the air a little to make breathing easier and take him into the bathroom when you have a shower (or take him in with you) so the steam helps to clear his nose and chest.  Just be sure to keep him really warm when coming out so the change in temperature doesn't make it worse.

for kids they have a vicks just for them called baby balsm has lavander in it as well. and isnt so strong. my hubby is very sensistive to smells and vicks physically burns his chest but the baby balsm doesnt. you can get it at woolies and coles or at the chemist for about $7-$8. i swear by it.
