advice please

Hi there

I'd appreciate any advice/personal experiences regarding using Phenergan for a long flight i have to do soon with my 19 month old. I'll be doing a 5 hr then 11 hr flight to the uk without my hubby which is a very long time to cope alone. I'm pretty chilled normally but i will understandably get tired so a little break while she sleeps will be very welcome. I don't really need opinions as in is it right or not as parents we make our own choices, i just wanted to know if anyone has had a bad/good experience with it or are there better alternatives maybe homeopathic etc. I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance x

Re: advice please

Hi there

I have used it a few times trying to get my daughter into a sleeping routine. For us, it didn't work at all! It slowed her down a tiny bit but as a sedation, it was rubbish. As said b4, try it out a couple of times to test it. Godd luck with the flight!

Hi, I am with the others, try it and see what happens.  It didnt work on my little one.   If you try it first you will know & still have time to hunt down another remedy.   Goodluck.

Re: advice please
Sends my kids absolutely hypo so definately try it before you fly. I've also been told to make sure you give it to them just after you take off. If you give it to them before you board apparently you can miss that window of opportunity for them to sleep and hey presto Hypo child.
have a good flight

Re: advice please
Hi
Ask the chemist for Valergan it is more natural and doesn't send your child hypo lol...
Phenergan always sent my kids hypo for days on end

Re: advice please
If you chose to use it, try it out on her first as I know some kids that go Hyper on it instead of sleeping and to find out that thats her reaction on the plane might be your worst night mare  LOL

Re: advice please
I was recommended to use Phenergan by a fellow friend in mothers group, who was also a GP/Doctor. Our experience using it for the long haul flight from Sydney to LA at 10 months old worked very well. You just need to consult your doctor to give the correct dose. You may like to test it one night to see if it does the job or makes your little one hyper. Personally, this has worked for codi up at that age but when we tried it again after 12 months it did not work and DVD show of his favorite cars movie worked a treat. I most likely will test phenergan for bub 2, as we i am sure number 2 may react differently. I was concerned too about a more natural way. However it only lasted a few hours and often they need the rest. hope this helps. We have traveled with codi on 11 plus flights about 4 times under 12 months and 4 times over 12 months old.

Re: advice please
i used phenergan with my kids when they are sick so they sleep and are less stressed. I have never had a bad experience with it. my mum used to use it on my sister and i too (for bad reasons but we dont have any probs due to it)

I would seek medical advise and also talk to a chemist to see if they have anything else as well.

good luck and enjoy your flight
