hey if it is any help to you we got our 16 month old son a dog for easter well a puppy adn she shedds a bit of heair we didn't think that it would effect him but he has asthma now and we have to get rid of the dog
Hi, I also have a labrardor and shes 4 years old and also a 17 month old son, all i do is hoover every day(now shes in moultin season) flea her, worm her every time she needs it. Didnt think you was suppose to bath a dog that often only twice a year coz of them losing there oils on there fur (imean i could be wrong) and my son seems fine with everythin i do. I suppose only time will tell if your young one gets any allergies
HEY THATS TRUE ITS NOT GOOD TO BATH THE DOG TOO OFTEN BUT NEEDS MUST SOMETIMES LIKE WHEN THEY JUMP IN THE RIVER HEHE BUT YOU CAN USE BABY SHAMPOO ON THEM AS THIS WON'T WASH AWAY THE NATURAL OILS IN THE COAT AND HELPS LOOSEN UP THOSE HAIRS JO XXX
I have a big dog she's akita/alsation she malts alot groom the lab regularly don't use flea collers you sould wash your hands after putting and if you touch youe eyes it hurts there too concentrated for kiddies, the drops will be better if you have a problem with fleas ans ticks you need to treat everything the yard/garden carpets and upholstry but you do need to evacuate the house whilst thats being done because of the fumes ,a flea shampoo might be better suited to your needs and grooming them in the bath makes less mess those hairs fly everywhere. As far as allergy goes only time will tell, keep an eye on babys eyes and skin with the babes being so young i'd recomend that you keep them apart using safety gates of a play pen well when babaes a little older playpens
We just recently got a dog too. We give her a bath once a week, use flea and tick treatment, and spray the yard for fleas and ticks, she takes a deworming medicine and we vacuum and sweep frequently. I don't think there is a risk of allergy (I'm assuming no one in your family has a pet allergy since you have a pet), just if you see your son having a runny nose or sneezing a lot, let your doctor know.

I don't know for sure. My daughter had a short haired dog (1/2 Ridgeback x Great Dane/Bully) in the house for the first few months of her life. I kept the place fairly well vacuumed (she only had short hair). My family was scared she would hurt the baby as she was fear aggressive due to an assault on both of us when she was only one. I found her protective and loving towards baby Natasha, she would come and get me if the baby cried. She still has a lot of contact with other people's long and short haired dogs and has never had allergy problems (she is only 19months old though). My problems started when her Dad walked out and NPWS kicked us out of the house because Natasha and I didn't work full time for them (despite years of backfill and volunteer work). I couldn't walk my big dog safely with the pram and was worried jealousy at my lack of time for her would cause her to act out at the baby (the lower pack member. She became ill at about the same time and my heart still breaks at putting her down. 9 years was an ok innings I suppose. I can't know for sure but I don't think it would be a problem if the areas the baby uses are kept fairly clean.
