Re: First Birthday Present
Swing set for outside.. Not really something he can keep for ever but I think at least we have the next 10 years covered.. LOL he has lots of other things he was given when he was born that he'll be keeping. Like a little pewter money box, and other things like that...

Although one friend thought it was very amusing to give him the bible for a religion called Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster... Which is a basically someone taking the micky out of religion and is not exactly real but they have gone to all the efforts to make it look like one complete with Bible and a few other odds and ends....

Re: First Birthday Present
If you want to do something a little different, you could give them a present, and a savings bond.  Buy one for 20 dollars that matures when they turn 16, 18 or some other important milestone.  I had one that I ended up getting 485 dollars for!  But for most kids first birthdays, small toddler bikes are always a good choice.  But they have no keepsake value.  Good luck!

You could get her a small rocking chair to sit in, and decorate it with her name. It would be a great keepsake.

Re: First Birthday Present
I bought Hannah a plastic bike for her first birthday.  It's one of the ones without pedals, $25 from k-mart.  I also bought her a trailer that goes on it.  She used the bike until she got a 'real' one for her third birthday and we still have the bike here. young kids who visit us ride it now.  She still uses the trailer around the yard but doesn't attach it to the bike unless a visitor's child really wants it on.  I also bought her a Memory Box and it's got everything in it from the first 2 years of her life, including her first hair cut, all her cards from when she was born, from christmas, from her first and second birthdays, the hospital bracelet, the first jumpsuit she wore, lots of photos.

Re: First Birthday Present
What about a tiny bracelet with her name and 1st birthday engraved onto it. She wouldnt really need to wear it but it would be a lovely keepsake.

Re: First Birthday Present
I got mine a ride on battery oprated police car-he can use it up until he's five. Its not that important though since kids don't remember. If you want something special you could get a collectors style teddy bear and get professional photos done with it. If she manages to keep them she'll have a family heirloom oneday...

Re: First Birthday Present

Hi there

1st birthdays are always hard.

My ideas would be a baby bangle, toy shape sorter, clothes, a special 1st birthday frame.

I got my daughter for her 1st birthday the Fisher Price Laugh and Learning Home, RRP is about $150 or so i think. It has a door, doorbell, gutter that balls go down, all these buttons that play music and heaps more. It was a great buy and she really loves it. I have added a picture here:

that is it, so very cute! Here's a link if you would like to read more about it.

Hope this helps, Shelley

Re: First Birthday Present
My brother has talent in this area and is in the process of making a series of DVDs to give her of her first 5 years.  He's got the first 3 done and has 2 months left of photos and video before the 4th installment is complete.  It's the greatest idea.

Re: First Birthday Present
With  my 3 when they turned one we brought them a photo album each and filled them with special photos from birth and now they are older we still fill that album each birthday, so when they turn 21 they will be presented with it ...Also putting the news paper clipping in it as well..

Another present to give them is a special teddy bear that they can love and cherish forever, as again my children are 9, 7 3and half and still have their teddies...

Another suggestion would to look at diffrent websites and see if you could get some suggestions from there as well as us...

Good luck with it all and i hope your little girl has a special day...

Re: First Birthday Present
My  kids got every thing for there first birthday so what we did was got a photo album like the baby one but this was just for there first birthday. Put who came, what they got for presents, lots photos, cards which we cut in the middle and put them on the same page so you could see the picture and the writting, party hat, and all those things that they can look at later. ill give it to her when she is a bit older and she can understand ect. We also got her, her first bed. They always get lots for there first birthday which isnt fair cause the later years you run out of ideas. Tee

Re: First Birthday Present
There are some really nice gift shops around that have special keepsakes for baby's first birthday like an Angel, or other ornament, A music box. What about a charm bracelet and you can add charms to it every year. She may not be able to wear the bracelet now but it's a lovely keepsake. Hope these ideas help!!

Re: First Birthday Present

Thanks! That is the most fantastic idea! That way I can get her the toys I want to get her and she can still have something special to remember when she is older!

Thanks again, you are a star!

Re: First Birthday Present

What about if you get your child like a back pack that's soft like a Dora the Explorer one, and she can a few things in there.
