all the advice written so far is great, but maybe you'll have to lift the carpet and clean underneath too, else the smell will just come back in a few days,

to stop the naughty pussy cat re-offending, sprinkle white pepper round the area, cats cant stand it so they'll stay away. its not that strong once its down so you dont have to worry that your room will just smell of that instead.

all the answers here are pretty good. You can also ring your local pet store as they have stuff that removes the smell and also repels to re affend. i use one in my laundry as it has the kids bathroom right off it and our cats think that is the bathroom not their box.

Biological washing powder, either make a paste with water (for short pile carpet ) or dilute with water, not only will it get rid of the smell but will stop the cat from going again in the same place. Don't use anything that contains amonia as cats think this smells like urine and this will encourage them to go again in the same place (cleaning products may smell clean to us but they smell like a litter tray to cats)

Okay this is my suggestion to you...We bought an ex rental that had alot of cat wee in the carpet..We had it professionally clean but unfortunately the smell was still there....It is probaly the worst animal urine in the world to get rid of...i would suggest you find the offending area and remove the underlay that has the urine on it...If that doesnt work rip up the carpet and tile or polish the floor bords thats what we did lol..

as a ex carpet cleaner wife and helper we are going to suggest to you to get a professional carpet cleaner person in. As depending on how much your cat has done and if it has got into your underlay......Also how long it has being there for, as cat wee can take the colour out of carpet ...Also dont try and clean with water as it will spread and if it is fresh, in the mean time you can use some salt or paper towel to absorb it, dont rub it in....
