Stolen Item

About 6 months ago, my son had his wallet stolen from a shopping centre. We thought it was gone, and the incident was sort of his fault, he put it on the counter in the food hall to get something else from the shop, and someone swiped it and ran off. that was dealt with. Then we heard from one of the kids at school that it had been handed in at another shop, and last night I decided to pick it up. (The other kid works at this other shop but couldn't take it for obvious reasons). So my son gets his wallet this morning, his ID cards are still there (which is all we cared about, nothing else was in it) and there is someone elses Proof of Age card with a name and date of birth on it. Now I don't know what to do. I am going to hand it in to the police, but do you think this person could be the one who stole the wallet? Or just tell them I found it? Any suggestions welcome thanks.

Re: Stolen Item

Hi well the problem with this is the person's ID that was in the wallet other than your son's may have had it given to him not knowing that it was stollen or it may be that this person stole the wallet. I would give it to the police & let them take it from there.

But how stupid would you have to be to leave your own ID & the person the you stole it from in a the wallet?

Re: Stolen Item
Hi there,

I think its perfectly reasonable to believe that this other person id is on the wallet because this is the person responsible for stealing your sons wallet.

Most definitely you should talk to the police.

cheers Kellz

I will go and see the police in the morning. Luckily there is a station just beside the kids school.

Re: Stolen Item
def hand it in and tell them why ........ it might help him ree think a few things in life if he knows hes not going to be getting away with things... what a silly theif leaving his own id in their ,, what goes arrounf comes arround , and if its not the theifs id it could be another thing that was stollen off another poor person ,

Re: Stolen Item
Anything is possible as it could be the person or he could have stolen more then one wallet but I would definately hand it in to police with your story and let them investigate it. They will find the person and talk to him. I would not just tell them you found it as the truth is always the best policy I feel. Let the police do the work. He could be known to them or he could have reported his stuff missing too. Good luck, it is terrible when people don't do the right thing.
