Cot Blankets

Just a quick one, would love to know how may blankets most mums have in their babies cots. Its the middle of winter, we have no central heating and I'm forever wondering if my baby is too hot or too cold.

Re: Cot Blankets
It's been pretty cold here lately so our daughter has been wearing a singlet and flannelette pj's. In her cot she has a flannelette sheet and a doona. Hope this helps.

Re: Cot Blankets
I forgot to mention that I have bought all my sleep bags from op-shops, check out your local and save a fortuen...if too big still use, either roll the sleeves or if they don't need hands to take a bottle, pin their arms within the bag and don't use the arms at all...if they're tooooo big. lol

Re: Cot Blankets
We just used a fleece sleep sack. It was very warm. You could try a fleece sleeper underneath too. These worked for us.

Re: Cot Blankets

All I ever had was a sheepskin underlay, sheet, bub in singlet and all in one suit or tracksuit, sheet and cotton blanket. I tried sleeping bags but all my kids were squigglers like me and ended up with them twisted around themselves, so I got rid of them.

The other thing would depend on where you are. I am in Qld so it is not as cold as southern states. If I was down there, I would more than likely put another blanket on the bed.

Re: Cot Blankets

Hi there

I would be investing in a sleeping bag. They are great and you can buy all different types for warmer to cooler. Im still yet to find a baby that will sleep all night and not come out of its blankets so a sleeping bag is the only way to go!

Re: Cot Blankets
I originally used sheepskin underlay and would add a couple of cotton blankets, sometimes a light cot quilt if it was really cold. I also found adding the muslin wraps that everyone seemed to give me came in handy in layering as they weren't too heavy. But in the end I had to get a sleeping bag because he would always wriggle out. So it was singlet, wondersuit and sleeping bag.

Re: Cot Blankets
My bub sleeps in a singlet, flannel pj's or skivvy & leggings & socks in a polar fleece all in one, I cover her when she goes down...I cover her again before I go to bed (around midnight...I'm a night owl)...If she's sleeping ontop of blanket #1 I have a spare at easy o noisy cupbourds having to be opened reach.  We turn the heater off when we go to bed & I don't think this house (rental) has insulation...but she never wakes up freezing...though sometimes she has cold hands which is the only things I don't cover with an item of clothing LOL  Just rug him up  maybe get an oil radiator if you're really worried.

Re: Cot Blankets

Hiya

My little man sleeps with a long sleeve suit on and a sleeping bag. And in his cot we have flannelette sheets with a cellular blanket and a quilt as well. Most of the time he wriggles out and sleeps on top of the blankets, hence the sleeping bag. But even when he does stay under his sheets he doesn't get too hot. If it is a warm night I leave the quilt off.

Hope this helps you...Txx

Re: Cot Blankets
most cots would have 2 blankets and a sheet.. What i did with my children when they were babies was have a sheepskin under their sheet, and then dress them in the sleeping bag suits as they keep bubs warm.....

Kept my bubs warm. hope it works for u as well..
