Re: 4.30am &ready for the day?

I would be calling Tweedle or the QEC, they are the experts, they say that you shouldn't get your child up until 6am, and from my experience it only takes about 36 hours to retrain them.

Your daughter has to decide how much she needs the change, if she needs it as much as it sounds like she does then I would persevere with whatever recommendations I am given, which I would imagine is control crying and resettling.

Maybe suggest she try on a weekend when they can tag team it.  Also consider something my friend, a mothercraft nurse, says "sleep breeds, sleep" in other words kids who have good day time sleeps often have good night time sleeps.  This friend worked at the QEC and her kids are all great sleeper.

Take care, it is a really difficult time for everyone, I think parenting children under two is the hardest time in life, but it gets easier and at the end we all wonder where the time went:)

Re: 4.30am &ready for the day?
My daughter wakes at 5am every day and has done for a very long time now.  She is nearly 4.  She goes to bed at 7pm and wakes at 5 and she dropped her daytime naps (which were only 10 minutes long anyway) by 12 months and has very rarely had a nap since then.  I don't count the days they're sick of course.  I just start my day at 5am and that's the way things are.  It was tough at first, me being a night owl and my daughter being an early riser but all I do is crawl out of bed, make a coffee and watch her play until around 6:30 then I have a shower and get dressed and make some breakfast and that's when the day really starts for me even though I've been up.  I just sit on the futon with her in front of me and barely move for that hour and a half except to get up and make another coffee.

I suggest trying to put him to bed a little later & see if that works. Otherwise perhaps cut out a daytime sleep.

I will write an advice article on this. We used the clock radio management and it worked all the time - even for adjustment to daylight saving.

Re: 4.30am &ready for the day?
My daughter was like this and still is she is now nearly 4, her day sleeps at 12mths were the same if she would go down at all, when I cut out her day naps at 14 mths she would sleep through until 6.30 - 7am....  When I cut her day sleeps out she was also going down at night at 6.30-7 so it might be worth a try other then that I don't know...  Goodluck to her x

Re: 4.30am &ready for the day?
My two year old goes to bed at 6.30 and wakes up anywhen from 4.30. It's hard coz my 4 month old can sometimes sleep in til 6.30 0r 7 and all I want to do is sleep! My husband and I just try and get to bed as early as possible because we have tried everything. Dark curtains, putting to bed later at night and toys in the room. Good luck...

Re: 4.30am &ready for the day?
my daughter is the same since she was 4 months old. have they tried puting some toys on the side of the cot. worked a dream for us, she still gets up at 5 but she can amuse herself for an hour or so in the cot. gives me time to wake up properly. also what time do they go to bed, i changed my bed time to suite, i will have the ocasional late night once a week or so and the rest i go to bed at about 8:30. the four oe five wakeups dont seem so bad then.
