Everyone's different, as my self and my daughter both wake up and bubbly as soon as we wake up. My hubby takes a few hours also to wake up. Depends on the individual that's all

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
I am like this sometimes...  I set my alarm a little earlier then my son so that I can have a shower to wake me up.. And right at the end of a nice warm shower I make it a little colder.. The cold water gets the blood rushing for me, and it wakes me up really well.. Then I head down stairs (if Francis has not woken up yet) and put on a pot of coffee.. Usually the coffee is not ready by the time he wakes up...  But I bring him down stairs and put on some upbeat music to get my good mood moving and I wake up pretty quick after that... And all is good..
I still take pleasure in my afternoon naps if I get a chance (which I believe is an issue for me as I go to bed late at night.. I try not to but am just not sleepy)..

But that semi cold shower ending really helps me wake up in the morning and the good upbeat happy music to get my morning going..

Good luck...

Re: wakeing up in the morning?

Some people just function better either at night or in the morning. Perhaps you're just not a morning person? My son is the same way.  He wakes up in the morning and of course we're in a hurry to get him to eat a good breakfast before he goes to preschool. But he doesn't really wake up until an hour later. For the first hour he just sits and stares at stuff.

I on the other hand am a morning person. I get up and I'm full steam ahead!

I am the same way. I don't even get dress until 10am, and I am up by 6:30. I just think people are different. Some of us need to ease into the day. When I used to work, I would get up a little earlier so I had time to wake up.

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
We get up at 5 in the morning.  My daughter wakes up at that time, I just crawl out of bed, make my way blindly to the kitchen and flick on the kettle.  I've made it a habit to fill the kettle up before bed after trying to boil it when there was only a little bit of water in it LOL.  I then plant myself on the futon and "supervise" (with eyes half-shut) her play.  She's at an age where she needs to be watched but not closely.  I don't move from that couch until the coffee is finished, then I make another one and sit back down until that's finished then I get breakfast out at about 6:30/7:00.

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
HI Sam, You are sooooo zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oops, not alone LOL.  I waste at least an hour of my mornings waking up but this is a pre-baby thing of mine    I HATE rushing, so I get up earlier than I need to by an hour (except not the last 2 weeks...I've been having trouble getting to sleep again) so that I have the time to waste. I sit outside and drink at least one cup of strong coffee and read my book, by the time it is time to function I'm good to go.....my big problem in the mornings though is getting out of my p.j's pre lunch time.  I'll clean etc in my p.j's and then shower and get dressed when I have to.  I think this stems from growing up on a water wise tanks only farm, we could only have a 5 min shower every 2nd day and doing clothes washing was also limited so I don't like to get more clothes dirty when I'm cleaning etc. LOL  Oh well...guess I'm still doing my bit for the environment....nice excuse huh LOL

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
I'm like that if I have too much sleep.  Anymore than 7 hours and I'm washed out for most of the day, I've also found that if I'm too warm through my sleep that I wake up zombie-ish.

But then again I have always wondered if the kids have some sort of invisible umbilical like cord that they use to drain our energy with while we sleep........

Re: wakeing up in the morning?

We often forget how much it takes out of us physically to be a parent.

Deep breathing upon waking is good ( for me meditation works best). Mutlivitamins never hurts. But remember, some people are morning people, and some are afternoon people.

When the kids were younger I was a morning person, but now I dont really get going till 9am! Our body clocks change, with what is happening around us at the time. As long as there is nothing medically wrong with you then I wouldn't worry about it too much. You will find that in a few months all will change. Just go with the flow.

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
Hi
The reason for this is your body still wants more sleep as when you sleep you don't take in as much oxygen.
As soon as you get up do 10 minutes of vigourous exercise and you will notice the difference.
One day I will actually get up and do the exercise and wake up but for now I am happy to snooze my morning away lol
Lack of oxygen makes you sleepy which is why when you are in a closed room you will yawn more.  For example your bedroom at night  it is your bodies way of telling you you need to deep breath
Good luck
Luv Deb

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
no - you are definately not alone. i get up and feel like a "zombie". i'm cranky, and all i want to do is have a coffee and my breakie, but that doesn't happen. my little man has to have his woobies first! then it's the other kids nagging me for something, usually their breakfast. it's cold in sa too at the moment, so getting out of bed and into some chilly air isn't exactly easy. i find if i go to bed at 9.30pm, it's easier getting up at 7am. however, my favourite tv shows are usually on at 9.30pm, and my hubby won't let me have a tv in the bedroom, so i have no choice other than to sit up watching my tv (cos it's usually cartoons for kids any other time of the day). so in answer to your question, no, you're not alone!

Re: wakeing up in the morning?
Hey! I don't think you are the only one out there who feels like this!! I try and get up before Sophie, but I guess I'm lucky because she sleeps in until about 9am. I have my coffee and my breakfast and then I'm usually feeling awake. I've been taking multi vitamins lately too which I find are definitely working but making it difficult to get off to sleep! Good luck with it all. I know it's winter and that is the hardest time of year to get out of bed and wake up!!!
