Nappy issue

Hi everyone,

My 15mth old little boy has been waking up early (5am) the past few mornings because his clothes are damp from his nappy.  I use Huggies disposable nappies and make sure he has a new nappy on right before he goes to bed.

I have even tried putting the next size up nappy on him, but that didn't work either.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?  He usually sleeps till 7ish when he's not wet, so if I could do something to stop him getting wet, it would be great.

Thank you.  xx

Re: Nappy issue
We had this issue too, you may need to try another diaper, pampers tend to run a little snugger on ours.

Re: Nappy issue
Hi
I had the same problem with my 3 year old. The best advice I can give you is make sure that his little penis is pointing down in the diaper not up or he will pee right up his belly!!
Good Luck

Re: Nappy issue
I do this too, last drink is with tea - unless he asks for a drink, then he gets a mouthfull of water, but generally he doesn't ask.

Re: Nappy issue
I've done this too since night-training began when she was 2.  It was a struggle at first because I've never restricted water consumption before but now she knows her last drink of water is with her tea, her last drink of milk is after her shower if she chooses to have milk.

Re: Nappy issue
try Woolworths?Safeway Select brand disposables...the only times they've leaked with us is when I've been a softy and given her 3 bottles during the night (oooHHH the shame LOL),  even with 2 bottles per night (the norm until 3 days ago (she's 18 months now)) she hasn't leaked.  They're only $19.00 per box and I think they're better than Huggies....waiting for the bolt of lightening...almost Sacrilegious LOL....we've dropped back to one bottle per night this week with the help and re-introduction of the good ol'dummy....so far so good.

Re: Nappy issue
I was a cloth bum mum and found that changing her nappy before I went to bed, using liners and using pilchers stopped any leaks from happening.

Re: Nappy issue
Me too - but as he got older I found that using a double nappy (2 - one over the other) was the only way to stop the leaking.

Re: Nappy issue

do what i do ,, i change his nappy while hes sleeping in his cot at about midnight ,, by moring time hes still nice and dry ,, the times that i have forgotten to wake up and change him hes been wet and the sheets also in the morning ,, since they relax more at night you might find they also wee more during the night time

I also use huggies . just go in and change his nappies later during the night or early morning

Re: Nappy issue
Hi - are his pants damp around the legs, or is he damp from around the top and his pyjama top?  If this is the case, he could have discovered that his penis is now his favourite body part.  Jay likes to 'adjust' his in the morning, and when he wees, some escapes from the top of the nappy and dampens his clothes.  For the past few weeks he has been back in those little onsies (short sleeved jumpsuits), as his night time underwear.  It did the trick, but they are hard to find in toddler size.  Bonds have quite generous sizing, he is currently wearing size 1 under his jammies, and they are doing the trick!  (He is 17mths old).

Re: Nappy issue
With Mara when she was a baby I used to get really cheap nappies for night time, cut one down the front, the put another over the top.

Re: Nappy issue

Thank you all so much for your suggestions.  I am going to see if I can get some liners for the nappy for  night time.  That sounds like it might work.

I will let you know if it works or not.  Thank you.  If there's anyone with any more suggestions, please feel free to add them as well.

xx

Re: Nappy issue

Oh, that's a shame.  I'm in Tassie and we don't have them yet then.  I wasn't sure if the Aldi nappies people were talking about were just a brand of nappies.....but they're actually a store, so that's a bugger 'cos I can't get them!

Re: Nappy issue
Hi
We usually use woolworths own brand but not select
They are good overnight
Another way is to buy the special pads they make for nappies by bebes i think they are
They absorb extra during the night
They look a lot like a maternity pad lol
You can buyt hem in most shops like woolworths

Re: Nappy issue
I'm having the same problem with my 2 year old right now...I've never heard of these pad things that you speak of and Woolworths in Canada closed when I was a small child...do you know of anywhere else I could get some?  I even have quick access to the US if you know of anywhere there that might carry them?
Thanks Sarah

Re: Nappy issue

I know my local woolworths had stopped carrying the bebes liners, which is a real pain in the botty. Gotta love supermarkets and thier policy on whoever pays for the shelf space gets it all, the way they're going we'll end up with only two brands for everything when we shop.

Anyway, I found an online shop that sells them, I'm not sure if the ship overseas, but you can always ask.

Re: Nappy issue

Hi, as it has been quite some time since i used nappies as all my children are older,I am trying to remember the name of the nappies i used,I know they came in a purple bag lol back then.I could only get them from a chemist and were reasonable priced.Have you ever tried the old fashioned plastics as I called them over the top of the disposable nappy of a night .I mean the plastic pants that you put over the top of a cloth nappy.Until I found the brand I used this is what i used to do and it did stop leakage a bit more.

I think you might be thinking of Cosies Goodnights. Designed for night time, extra absorbency. Were an excellent nappy.

I am pretty sure I have seen the goodnights at the Chemist, but don't quote me on it. Been a while since I had one in nappies. Leisa

Re: Nappy issue
I tried huggies several times and found them to leak on me. The nappy I found to be the best is pampers baby dry, I think I have only ever had two leak on me. As for leaking at night, have you tried to limit the amount of liquid you give your son in the couple of hours before he goes to bed?
