one twin sounds congested

i need a little help. i have twin boys one is sounding congested in the nose and is not really drinking properly. when he does drink a full bottle he does a huge burp, cough's then usually spews his milk up. he has been unsettled at night. spoke to paediatrician about congestion and she said some babies have small nasal passeges and just a small about of snot can make them sound all stuffy. but i am not real sure as he is very unsettled, usually he is the more easy going twin. thay are 5 months just got them sleeping all night and now this. what could it be. should i try solids? help i don't have my mum to help.

Hi, if you are breastfeeding try squirting a little milk up his nose - it has natural decongestant properties. If not use fess nasal spray (saline), it works well. A little Vicks Baby Balsam on the balls of the feet, chest and back helps too, I used all of these on my 5 month old recently and they worked wonders! If he doesn't seem to be improving take him to the Doc. As for the solids I would only start them if he is showin signs of needing and wanting them - following the food to your mouth, chewing when you eat, etc. Good Luck - am happy to help more if you like, just minti mail me.

I wouldn't worry with solids, unless you think he needs them, I would wait until he is over this stuffiness. I would try a humidifier at night, and the vicks outlet plugs worked wonders when mine had a cold. Be sure to clean out his nose a lot and try regular tylenol to relieve any discomfort.

Well it is the season for colds etc. I know when my kids have colds and congestion, they usually do not tolerate any dairy as it exacerbates the problem and they will throw up. Although at that age there is not much you can do with taking them off the dairy. However it has been suggested before, which I did not know, you can try a bit of breast milk up their nose, or I beleive formula works as well. Not sure though, someone else may be able to help with that one. Try looking up in advice on the subject, you might find an answer in there. Sorry can't be more help. Leisa
