Re: Cradle cap
Luckily my boys haven't had cradle cap, but my mum used to use olive oil or vaseline on us. The vaseline she put on at night & then rinsed in the morning & used a soft bristled brush - says it worked a treat!

Re: Cradle cap
Hi there,

I have managed to avoid cradle cap with all my girls due to some advice given to me by a dear friend who is a hairdresser . . .  Her advice is this:
  • Always triple rinse out baby shampoo/soap etc ( anything left behind can cause cradle cap)
  • Always make sure you bub's hair/head is properly dry (use a hairdryer if your not sure, dampness breeds cradle cap)
  • Always use a very soft bristled baby brush on you baby's head at least 3 times a day and always after a bath.

If you notice some cradle cap appearing
  • Never use oil as cradle caps feed on it
  • Always gently pick this off whilst in the bath and brush well afterwards . .

This advice has always worked for me . . . Good luck . . . Cheers Kellz

I have always used virgin olive oil and it worked a treat for both my kids. When one of them had it really bad id oil on rub a little and then put hat on b4 sleep and then bath. It was gone within a week. and both kids it never returned but it could of been just my kids lol.

Good luck Tee

Re: Cradle cap
my son had cradlecap up until 4 weeks, i smothered his hair in baby oil, gave him nice warm baths and while his hair was underwater, id lightly brush it off with a soft baby brush, after taking him out and drying him id brush again, and put a light coat of baby oil on his head before bed, i would repeat this even after it was all gone (but i didnt do this as much afterwards)... this really worked a treat for me,
others say breast milk (which i could not try), and also olive oil (which i never knew of when he had the cradlecap... hope this helps :)

Re: Cradle cap
HI, This is such a bear to get rid of .  When My little ones were little I would put baby oil on their head about 20 mins.  before their. Then I would was with baby shampoo when good and lathered I would have a soft but bristled brush and brush for a few mintues. I dont if that would work for you but I always got rid of mine within 2 weeks. Good luck
