Blankets for a 8 month old????

Okay maybe this is a first  mommy worry but..... is ti safe to have a 8 month old sleep with a blanket. He sleeps in sleep bags at night and really doesn't get cold but was wondering because at nap time he sleeps with one. I know he shouldn't be with a pillow for a while but not sure about the blanket thing.

Thanks,

Jessica

Thanks for the advice. I'll think I'll keep giving him one at nap becase he gets cold. I think he would get hot at night since I have him in a sleep sack to keep warm.

Re: Blankets for a 8 month old????
My boys have used blnkets since they were born and the oldest started using a doona & pillow at about 12 months. I just check them after they go to bed, when I got to bed & in the night when I get up to feed the youngest. I have never had any problems with the blankets coming up over their faces as I tuck them in well at the bottom & the sides.

Re: Blankets for a 8 month old????
If he is able to move his head when his face is blocked, I would not worry.  My daughter has always had pillows and blankets and stuffed animals in her bed with her.  She has never had a problem.  I know I'm going to get yelled at from lots of moms, but I know what she is able to do and even when she was just 2 weeks old she was able to turn her head, so I did not worry.  This is one that you should go with your gut on.  He is obviously fine since he already sleeps with one during nap time.  So let him sleep with one.

Re: Blankets for a 8 month old????
hi there i have only just let my son sleep with a doona this year he is 3 and my 15 month old still sleeps with out a blanket, at 12 months old we went to check her before bed and she was fighting to get the blanket off her head it was wrapped right around, we always make sure the bedroom is warm and they are dressed nice and warm.

Its your  decision if you have a blanket with your baby just make sure you keep an eye on her and most babies kick off their blankets anyway...
i hope this helps..

I gave mine a blanket when she was very young.  We co-slept but she always on top of my blanket with her own blanket on her, although she's never liked them and just pushes them off her.

Hi
Yes blankets are fine for your little one.  I would just check on him once he falls asleep.

Its fine. He is old enough to be able to take the blanket off himself. I always check on mine after she is asleep to be sure she is quiet b/c she is sleeping.
