Re: dream feed
Usually around 7 months you can stop it. Just be sure to add the ounces to the daytime food. It usually takes about 3 days.

Re: dream feed
Sorry to be a pest, I have another question about this.  Is this method for those who have babies who currently wake through the night or is it used from birth to stop them waking later for a feed? Or is it for those who don't wake through the night for a feed who may need to have more to make sure they're getting enough?  Just curious because I've never really heard of it until a few people on Minti mentioned it so it's interesting to know.

Re: dream feed
I think i stopped around the 6 month mark. I just gave it a try a couple of nights, and when he still slept thru till norlam time without it, I realised he didn't really need it any more. I only kept going this long because he stopped his 2am feed at 3weeks of age, and would sleep from 5pm-5am.

Re: dream feed
Mine never had a 2am feed.  She would have a bed-time feed and be in bed from 6pm, wake at 10pm for a feed and sleep until 6am, then have another feed and sleep until 8am.  Then she dropped her 10pm feed at around 2 and half months and sleep from 6 til 6.  I figured if she was hungry I'd know about it! And besides that, she was feeding every hour or 2 through the day anyway.

never heard of a dream feed, but am glad someone explained it. Might let my sister know about this one, her baby is not gaining weight at the moment. Leisa

Re: dream feed
I only did this for the first 2 weeks when we had to keep Jaydee gaining weight in order to be allowed to have him at home... Try what the others suggest, just stop and feed only if bubs wakes up.  You won't know yourself with the extra sleep

Make sure you were some breast pads to bed though in case you leak, and you might feel a little engorged in the morning - however that will begin to lessen as your body adjusts.

Re: dream feed
I only fed mine when she woke for a feed, most of the time I left her sleep so that's really got me thinking.  I guess you could try stopping and if the baby wakes, the baby must still need it through the night. Put it off for another month and try again if that happens.  Do you wake the baby to feed? Or is the baby left asleep having a feed?

Re: dream feed
sometimes she wakes but 9 times out of 10 she is still asleep.  I usually do it anytime between 9 and 11.

Re: dream feed
Dream feeding is feeding the baby while she's asleep, without waking her up.  It's usually recommended to be done before you go to bed and it is suppose to help the baby sleep longer through the night.

Re: dream feed
We stopped dream feeding around 7 months. I think we could've stopped earlier but wasn't comfortable until then.
