I agree with everyone else. It is quite normal. I stressed out when my daughter did it, and luckily i was at the doctors when this occured and she didn't panic at all, as she told me just to hold my daughter, and they do get over it.

Re: newborn concerns
Hi there

As everyone said, it is quite normal. At the first couple of weeks my 2 children did that. My son actually sometimes slept with his eyes open! That was so scary for us when we first saw that. He was only like 4 weeks old and we went to check on him and noticed he had his eyes open but not moving at all, my husband totally freaked and grab him out of the cot and unwrapped him and immediately our son woke up and started to cry, I guess from the shock of my husband waking him up... as he got older he still does that, he even freaked his preschool teachers one time during nap time at school... he looked so scary they said....lol
As for the vomiting/gagging, it probably is just the after taste of the milk depending if your breast or bottle fed him. My son would also now and then gag after a burp when i fed him fomula but never with breast.... just check with your health nurse/doctor anyway if it really concerns you..

Re: newborn concerns
This is completely normal - all newborns do this for a little while. Just keep an eye on the vomiting & gaging - may just be the taste making him gag - and if you are worried ask your doctor or health nurse.

Re: newborn concerns

Hi there MizzJay,

When my daughter was at this age she used to roll her eyes into the back of her head when she was tired or had excess wind.

I think all you can do for this is to make sure he isnt over tired and to burp him extra well...

If you are extremely concerned i would contact your local doctor or take him to your early childhood nurse! Sorry if this hasnt helped much

Cheers

Re: newborn concerns
First of all: CONGRAGULATIONS !!!   the rolling up of the eyes is pretty normal, even i was scared like u at the beginning, but i`ve seen some babies do it, so i wasn`t concerned, mine did for 3-4 weeks and my sisters daughter also did the same.

As for vomitting i`d call the Nurse and ask her.

Enjoy ur little one.

Re: newborn concerns

Congrats, he is georgous! I think what you have discribed is very normal. He has to learn how to comtrol his little eye muscles and as for theburping, vomit/gag i think this is pretty normal also. Im sure if he had reflux problems you would know about it.. hes so little just trying to get used to his little body out here in the world!

xx

Re: newborn concerns
hi, your little boy is trying to fugure out how to gain control over his new body. My little boy rolled his eyes back when he was first born, but it stopped after a month or so.Same goes with the vomits, he was doing power vomits that were like a fountain and gagging etc. Ir you're worried  write a list of your concerns so you can ask the health nurse on your next visit...if you're anything like me I always seem to remember what I wanted to ask after the appointment... doh Txx

Hi honey . . . .

CONGRATS on your new bub . . . . .

Try not to worry too much as what you are saying seems pretty normal to me . . . Although i would keep a bit of an eye one his vomiting and gaging as this may turn into Reflux . . . BUT he will most likely thrive into a happy and lovely baby boy!!!

I have done some articles called Baby steps that may be of interest to you . .  . You can check them out in the advice section . . . .

Cheers Kellz
