For those have are breastfeeding or have breastfed: when did your period return?

As some of you may know, I have 2month old twins and I am breastfeeding. I am also supplementing with formula because there are days (especially during the day when my milk supply is low) that they are not getting their fill. So instead of falling asleep after eating, they stay away and fuss after 15 minutes.

But even if I'm supplementing with formula, I don't skip feedings. I only give the formula after breastfeeding to top off. And sometimes, my girls don't even want to take the formula.

So, I'm a little puzzled that it seems my period is back after 2 months. So my question is, if you've ever breastfed, or are still breastfeeding - when did you get your period back. I'm attemting to make myself feel better by taking this poll. Maybe there are people out there like me. Right?

I am at month 9 and still don't have it. I know several people who got it when the amount they were b/f'ing took a drop. Have you been supplementing all along, or was it a sudden switch? Did the twins cut back on night time feedings or anything? That may be it. I'm sorry you got stuck with it so soon!

My period came when I finished breastfeeding at 8 months... I don't think it is the same for everyone.. I was on the mini pill as well, and changed to the patch once I finished breast feeding and then both my period and my weight came back...

My son is 8 months old, i'm still breast feeding and still no sign of a period (thanks god) not looking foward to a visit from that little friend

after all my bubs ive got them back within 2 months of having them, and this time is no exception, aiden is only 9 weeks old and there back, and to be honest im glad cause at least now i know im not pregnant!!!

With my first child my period came back the month after I gave birth. With my second it came back 5 months after I began breastfeeding. With my youngest one I was put in an IUD and my period did not come normal till my 9th, and final, month of breastfeeding...

As you can see from above every pregnancy and everyone is different. There is no set in stone response...Sorry I could not give you are more definitive answer :)

I had my 1st period at 8 weeks wen my milk wasnt coming in fast enough hope this helps

I always started back about the third month after birth with my two kids. With my daughter (who is now 17) I solely breastfed until 10 weeks and started one bottle of formula a day (because I had to go back to work when she was 12 weeks old). Anyway, I started my period I think within a week of starting that routine.

With my son (who is 10) I started supplementing formula around 6 weeks. He was hungry and I was literally spending hours and hours and hours feeding him and he just never seemed to get "full". I started my period with him when he was 9 weeks old.

No worries. Everyone is different! I had a friend who basically had her regular monthly period and she breast fed for 6 months. It never made a difference to her body!

My period didn't come back until I finished breastfeeding my son at 14 months old. I was down to one a feed a day plus he was on solids for every meal (and hasn't stopped eating! LOL!) but my body still seemed to know I was breastfeeding and my cycle didn't continue until I fully stopped.

Also, sorry this is not the same as your case.

I was short in supply when I switched in A.J's 3rd month, I also took Codral in order to dry me up quicker, I got my " Visit from Aunt Rose" one week after the last day I fed her and I had dropped it down to one feed a day at that. I dried up in 2 days completely.

Hi Izzy, Mine didn't come back until the ninth month and only very lightly for the first few. Sorry, I guess that doesn't make you feel any better.
