So sorry you two are going to be apart!  Your poor fiance is going to miss out on all of your hormone changes that may make you cranky.  LOL.  I agree with everyone else that you normally won't feel the baby's movements before he is scheduled to come back.  Actually, you will, but you will say to yourself "is that the baby moving?  I don't think that was the baby moving.  Should I be feeling the baby move?"  LOL.  And then around 18 weeks you'll get a nice kick to the ribs and you'll say, "OH!"  Just take care of yourself and be sure to surround yourself with people who can support emotionally while your fiance is gone.  Good luck.

Re: First time pregnant
I felt my first baby kick at about 16 weeks I think and my second kicked early at 14 weeks. Everyone is different but generally first time mums don't feel kicks until around 18 weeks. Don't worry, the first kicks aren't much and they get stronger every day, so by the time your hubby is back he might be able to feel it properly. My husband couldn't feel the kicks until about 17 weeks. I don't want to worry you but you are only 9 weeks pregnant so keep in mind that most miscarriages occur between 8 - 12 weeks. It would be awful if that did happen and your hubby wasn't with you. Good luck I hope your pregnancy goes well x

Re: First time pregnant
he won't miss much.  The first big movements that he will be able to feel to happen around 18 weeks.  The only thing is he will be leaving you with a flat belly, and coming back to a little baby bump!  That will make it all the more real for him as will your first ultrasound.

Enjoy your pregnancy and I hope it is easy for you.  Just wait until the birth!  You will be wanting all of us there with you!  No, not as bad as some people make out (not you Minti mums).  Everyone is different and you just have to take things as they come.

Congrats and I wish you well.

Re: First time pregnant

dont worry too much about him missing anything coz like the others said there isn't much movment till 16 weeks but you may not even feel it for a while if u have a quiet bub. they move or around 20 weeks (mine didnt stop after that). but the thing is he would have to pretty lucky to feel it coz somtimes they are shy and seem to know when someone is waiting for a kick. if somone was trying to feel my lil man kick he normally wouldnt do it again until their hand was taken of my belly. not many people felt him move even though he was so active. but anyway dont stress this is the most exciting time of your life and u can tell ur fiance all about it on the phone or whatever, coz i'm sure he'll want constant updates.

good luck and congrats

and if u ever want to chat u can minti mail me or add me as a freind if u like

Re: First time pregnant
At that time you should be able to feel your baby, he may not be able yet.  It really depends on how big your baby is, how strong the baby is with his kicks and how much fat is between your uterus and the skin.  He's got the best ahead of him and you too with the later 20 weeks.

Re: First time pregnant

Your partner may miss out on the first ultrasound at 12 weeks, but there's really not a lot to see. My bubby's dad missed my first only a few days ago, but it didnt' really matter much as the best one is the ultrasound you have at 20 weeks. Thats when the fetus really starts to look like a baby and you can even find out the gender if you like.

As for movement, you will feel it a lot sooner than he will be able to. he won't be able to feel much until you're about 20 weeks anyway. It seems to be the 20 week mark that bubbies tend to start getting really interesting. So, no, your partner won't miss much, if anything... except for missing you.

Cheers, DA

Re: First time pregnant

Congratulations!

Two months will fly by! My husband had to leave us when I was 6 months pregnant as he was posted overseas. He made it to the birth, two weeks prior and one week after then did not see us again for 4 months as I was awaiting for my visa to join him.

I don't think he will miss out on too much, I felt kicking at about 16 weeks, it felt like bubbles in my tummy once it happens you will not mistake it!

Good luck, I hope you have a smooth pregnancy!

Re: First time pregnant
Hello, congratulations!!! I think you will be fine, I don't think he will miss out on much. Usually on a first pregnancy the movements aren't really strong until after 20 weeks and the early movements only you will probably  be able to feel anyway.   At least he's going away earlier on in the pregnancy and not closer to the end of the pregnancy.

During my second pregnancy, the father of my boys decided he would go away when I only had about three weeks to go!!! How risky was that??? He was even away for Father's Day so a friend of mine felt bad and let me stay with her on that day, but I felt bad for imposing on her family

Re: First time pregnant

HI there and congratulations on your pregnancy, usually with your 1st pregnancy you dont feel movment until about 15 -16 weeks and that is just like little flutters in your stomach.Maybe in your 20th week and more your partner will feel movements so I really dont think he will miss much of that ,maybe he will not be back for your ultrasound which is truly a wonderful experience to see and hear the little life inside of you.The hospital usually give you little pics of the ultra sound to keep to show your partner.I loved being pregnant and it is just a wonderful experience to carry and give birth.Good luck and hope to see you around minti .

Re: First time pregnant
Hi, you probably will just feel some fluttering (like a butterfly in your tummy or your food digesting). I didn't feel my baby kick until I was closer to 22 weeks. He probably won't miss much b/c at first my spouce couldn't feel what I was feeling.
