That is a horrible thing to find your child is walking around your car!

I have 2 cosco alpha omega elite , 1 for each car for my 2 1/2 year old. He has never gotten out of it. It's a 5 point harness. The top buckle that goes across his chest is fairly easy to get out, but the one that buckles on the crotch is very hard. It's even hard for my thumb sometimes. You may want to look at this in a store like BabiesRUs and see for yourself if you're planning on buying another carseat.  This is good for kids up to 100 lbs.

Here where I am, the law states that children under 8 must be in carseats... so that's a long ways away for my 2 year old.

we have 2 diffrent car seats we have ones from new born to 2 yrs old then we have booster seats which i had problems with my two yr old as she could get out as it was only the seat belt across her but she has learnt now as i told her i would put her back in a babys seat and she stopped . as the rest have said we have a 5 point car seat for new born to 18 kgs i think and then booster till there 5 to 6

maybe say to her are you going to be a good girl before you leave because if you are getting out of your seat you can stay home . another one i did is sat caitlin down and said mummy and daddy have to wear there seat belts so does caitlin and that worked with it aswell

get your car seat checked,, here the car seats for our toddlers have to be a 5 point harness and have to be fitted so its just right for the child,, you may have the wrong kind of seat for your child? remind your child before she gets into the car is shes not buckled up in the seat she will have to go home and you will go out and go shopping etc,, without her ,, and let her also know that the police will also tell her she has to go home and not be in mummys car if she takes it off

but to me it sounds as if it could be the wrong car seat for her

hey there,my daughter done the same how i done it-we went to the baby shop and u get these things that wrap in front of child on seat belt he/she probable cant get out hopefully notbut maybe try the Child saftey they probable can help too and suitable and safe things for child it hard when u r driving as you dont know where they are and also they could open doors well best of luck

I had one of those! After a lot of yelling, stopping the car wherever we were (if it was safe) and a smack on the leg every time, I ended up tying an old scarf around the buckle so he couldn't get to it. Made it a real bugger to get him out, but I figured if he stopped undoing the damned buckle, it was a price I had to pay.
